An Open Letter To My Furry Best Friend

We have all had to say a tough good-bye to our furry friends.

Who knew someone so small had so much influence in my life.

Pets seem to have such an influence. So much energy is packed into their little furry bodies, yet they can be the only ones to bring light to life. Even though they can not talk, they stick by your side regardless what goes on in life. This is dedicated to all pets that crossed the rainbow bridge too soon.

To my best friend,

Thank you for being such an influence on my life. As little as you knew what was going on, you have helped me overcome any obstacle that was thrown at me. Even though you could not talk, little did I realize how much of an impact you would have on my life. You have shown me true strength, compassion and, most importantly, love. The connection we had between each other was indestructible; no one could tear us apart. We grew up and spent most of our lives by each other’s side.

I won’t forget the day I brought you home from the shelter to live with your new family. You were scared, you didn’t know what would happen. But, you soon realized this is home and this is your family. You started eating family dinners with us, playing family game night, cuddling on the couch during cold winter nights. I soon realized I wouldn’t want life any other way.

The time came too quick, but I knew I had to be strong. It was not an easy time, but you were happy. After you were gone, I knew how important you were in my family’s lives. You became a part of our family, a part that will never be forgotten. You are probably running around in pet heaven having the time of your life. Thank you for being such a huge part of my life and sticking next to me.

They may be a small part of your life, but you are their entire life.

Sincerely,

Your Fur-ever Family

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
