Dear Me,
Take a breath. You’re doing the best you can. Between school, family, friends, career opportunities, money problems and trying to find "the one”, you’re killing the game. It’s okay that you sleep in till the late afternoon some days. It’s okay that you don’t always dress up. It’s okay that you double text the hot guy you met at the bar. But most of all, it’s okay that you aren’t perfect.
Have you ever thought about what the definition of perfect is? Let me fill you in on a secret. Perfect doesn't mean you have a stellar body or all the money in the world. Perfect doesn't mean that you have the hottest boyfriend or all the trendy clothes. Self love, patience and self confidence are what makes you perfect.
Of course you feel like you could always be a little better. You feel as if you fall short to your friends, your crush and your family. I'm here to tell you that it's OK. It's okay that you feel sad and irrelevant sometimes. You know why? Because everyone feels like that sometimes. Once you realize that the ups and downs of life are what shapes who you are, the happier you will be, I promise.
Some days you are easier on yourself than others. Some days you look in the mirror and wish your hair was longer, your thighs were smaller and your skin was clearer. Some days you wake up loving every inch of yourself and you love yourself more than you thought was possible. You need to understand that you are exactly where you were meant to be.
I get it, believe me. You often think that things could be going smoother and life could be a little easier. Well, life sucks sometimes. You lose loved ones to diseases, you fail a huge exam and you run out of mascara, but at the end of the day, when you’re drinking Chardonnay in the bath tub, you’ll realize that everything will be okay. Even after the heartbreaks, the tears and the overthinking you always seem to have a smile on your face and that is priceless.
You are beautiful and driven. You are compassionate and humble. You are you because that’s who God wanted you to be. Sure, you might not make it to the gym every day, but you do make others around you happy, and that’s better than any perfect body. It’s the little moments in life that add up to the greatest times of your life. Watch "One Tree Hill" for five hours. Use that cookie dough coffee creamer two days in a row. Buy an $11 nail polish that you probably won’t ever actually use.
Most importantly, keep being you.
