Being the oldest child in the family has its perks. You’re always the first to do anything, at one point you received all the attention because it was only you and your parents were literally obsessed. You get to set the bar for the kids that come next. I don’t have any memory of my life as an only child and I’m not mad about it. My little sisters are the best thing that have ever happened to me, and although I don’t say it enough, here are some things I want them to always remember.

You are loved no matter what. Siblings are supposed to drive each other crazy and you guys are really good at that. Thanks for annoying me since you learned to talk. For making me “play pretend” with our Madeline doll house for hours, insisting on dance parties to the Mama Mia soundtrack, and watching the Harry Potter movies until we could quote every single line. Even when I couldn’t take another second, my love for you has never changed and never will. Living apart from you has been hard, and even on days when I don’t call I’m always thinking of you.

I am always proud of you. You never fail to impress me and I love watching you succeed. There is so much you have already accomplished and I can’t wait to watch and see the incredible things you’ll continue to do. I love seeing your name in the paper and getting pictures of you with your athletic and academic awards. I try not to brag like the mother that I am but I can’t help it you guys are just that great.

You’ll always be my baby sisters. My friends, that have become your friends, are always shocked when I tell them how old you are. They (nor I) can believe how fast you’re growing up. No matter how old I will always protect you and make sure you’re happy.

I’m sorry when I’m bossy, but I’m told it’s an oldest child thing. I just want the best for you and I will never let you settle. I cannot wait for the years to come and all the adventures we will have together. I feel so lucky to grow up with two automatic best friends (sorry you’re stuck with me), and I know we will always stick together.

I am always here for you. Early mornings (not too early please), late nights, and any time in between I'm your girl. I hope you always know you can come to me for whatever you need. I'll always give you my best advice even if a lot of times your ideas are better than mine. No matter how far, I got your back.
