“A dog is the only thing in life that loves you more than he loves himself.”
Dear Chubbsy,
I want to start out by thanking you. Thank you for being so excited to see me every time I walk through the door (even when I just went to get the mail). Thank you for cuddling with me every night. Thank you for always knowing when I need one of your sloppy kisses (and ignoring when I say I don’t). Thank you for letting me take countless photos of you against your will. Thank you for putting up with the humiliation I put you through when I buy you clothes and dress you up (for said photo shoots). And thank you for always saving me the extra carbs by forcing me to give you my pizza crusts.
You may chew my new shoes before I even get to wear them and rub your fur all over my black clothes every time I am about to leave the house. You may fart on me every time we are watching TV and bark at me when I don’t give you the good spot on the couch, but I still love you. You get away with so much because of your cuteness and the worst part is that you know it!
With that being said, your cuteness is not the only reason that I love you. Your loyalty is undeniable. You always sniff and inspect strangers before they are allowed in the house. When we go on walks you make sure to walk ahead of me to check everything out and make sure the trail is safe. I can always count on you to eat the spiders I am too afraid to kill. You even come swimming with me even though you hate being in the water.
Your puppy days are almost over and you are not as tiny as you used to be. In fact, you are quite the opposite of tiny now, hence your name. I may not be able to lift you as high or carry you around as much, but you will always be my little baby.
I guess I consider myself your human mother. I watch out for you and protect you from those mean dogs down the street. I make sure you have your coat on when you go outside in the rain and snow. I spoil you rotten, which probably encourages your naughty behavior. I even get defensive when other people try to tell me that their dog is cuter than you (you know you are the most handsome dog in the entire world.)
You are exactly what our family needs. An upbeat, energetic reminder to be silly and childlike every chance we get. But also the constant love and affection that we all benefit from on a daily basis. You truly do make our house feel more like home and it would not be the same without you there. I count on your love and affection waiting for me at the door every time I come home.
Love,
Your Favorite
