Sure, you need food to survive. It is a part of life and a necessity of every day. Sometimes I snack more than I eat, and that really defines my personality and how I am as an individual. With all the different varieties of food, it truly explains whatever mood I am in or how I am feeling at that specific moment.
Usually chips or goldfish are my go-to snack if I am bored or doing work that I don’t necessarily want to do. They’re mindless distractions that I can continuously eat without feeling too stuffed or full. I can easily go through a full bag of either chips or goldfish in one sitting, which makes it dangerous but also so worth it because I usually always line up how much food I have left with how much homework I have left.
Then there are the sweets that I treat as a prize for accomplishing something. With the picky personality that I have, I usually go for milk chocolate or vanilla ice cream. If I do well on school assignments or make the rare appearance at the gym, I tend to treat myself with a sweet treat. I like to think of it as motivation, but more often than not I find myself eating more sweets than I actually do the things that prompt the sweets in the first place.
Another type of snack that is very common in my life are the snacks that turn into full meals. You could have something that is supposed to be an appetizer or a light item to tide you over until dinner, but I usually double the amount of whatever it is and eat it as a meal instead. Have you ever made mozzarella sticks as an appetizer? If you nearly double the amount that you’re supposed to have, it can become a meal. Undoubtedly, it is not a healthy one but a meal nonetheless.
Finally, there are the snacks that you hate to love. What I mean is, you might get super excited to eat something, then once you eat it you feel bad afterward. But it’s okay because how you feel afterward is so worth how it tasted in the moment. These snacks include any fried foods, foods that could upset your stomach or a lot of sugary things that make it impossible for you to calm down. For instance, I have really bad acid reflux, but I love having either chocolate or hot chocolate at night. I may think it’s a good idea at the time, but then I hate myself afterward because it keeps me from falling asleep.
There are so many different types of snacks out there, and each of them has always been by my side. No matter when I need a snack, the snacks will always be there when I need them. Thank you, snacks, for always being a support system for me.
