An Ode To Riggtown

Best Pizza Shop in West Chester

An Ode To Riggtown
The Town Dish

Unless you live under a rock in West Chester, you’ve at least heard of the glorious pizza shop known as Riggtown Oven. They have the best pizza and breakfast sandwiches in all of West Chester and they’re open till about 3am on weekends. Anyone who knows me knows I love my pizza and Riggtown is hands down my favorite.

Pizza is easily my favorite thing about going out. Sometimes my motivation to hit the town is for the pizza afterward. Riggtown’s slices run for a mere $2 and I always make sure I have just that before I leave the house. If I’m being honest, I usually get more than one slice to satisfy my late night munchies. I’m not sure what it is about the pizza, but it’s so good! I rave about it and it’s always the answer to “where do you want pizza from?” And their pizza isn’t the only amazing thing they have. Their breakfast sandwiches are a lifesaver. You can get them on bagels, toast, or a twelve-inch roll. These heavenly sandwiches are complete with egg, cheese, your choice of breakfast meat, and a hash brown. That’s right, a hash brown right on the sandwich. It’s as amazing as it sounds. Nothing like waking up after a rough night and calling Riggtown for that breakfast sandwich that will bring you back to life.

My roommate and I are frequent Riggtown customers. One of the employees even knows us by name. I feel like I should be embarrassed by that, but I’m not. We walk in, she sees our faces, recognizes our order, and along our way we go. My roommate and I have regular discussions about the other Riggtown employees we are not as familiar with. “Who was working today?” “Oh, the cute guy, the one that was there the other night.” “Oh him! Yeah, he is cute.” We are proud Riggtown regulars and would be gold members if they had a rewards card.

The Riggtown employees put up with a lot. Being open until 3am and delivering breakfast sandwiches early in the morning, they deal with a lot of drunk and hungover kids. I want you to know, Riggtown employees, your hard work is very appreciated. I can’t thank you enough for giving me pizza when I stumble into your tiny shop and the mornings when I walk in with sunglasses on while begging for a greasy sandwich. You guys truly are the real MVPs of West Chester.

Whether it’s 1am or 10am, Riggtown is my go-to spot for food. I don’t know what I’d do after a night out without stopping to get a slice or two from my favorite pizza shop. I also don’t know what I’d do a couple hours later after the night caught up to me without Riggtown giving me an amazing breakfast sandwich. My friends always know during a night out if they can’t find me, I’m at Riggtown. Shout out to Riggtown for always being there and having amazing food, I’d be hungry and probably richer without you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
