America: Land of the Free, Home of the Brave?

America, it is supposedly the land of the free and the home of the brave. Do you know what I see? I see shackles and cowards. We are supposed to have rights. We don't have our full right to use them. Let me list a few for you.

The Right to worship God in one's own way: We do not have this right to do this anymore. It is being taken from us. No longer is it acceptable to pray in school, in public, or on a video without people giving their opinion. They call you a bigot, or a radical. Christians who are not in the company of many are hit with a tidal wave of hate.

The Right to free speech and press: Everyone sure does have their freedom of speech, but sometimes I feel that they should not. Every time I turn on the news all I see is all the hate in the world. There is more hate in our generation then there is peace and unity combined. Everyone hates something. That is just how the world works now. Not everyone is unified. Many have no beliefs of any kind. They can hate something, but when you ask them why they can give you no reasons. People just hate because they like to hate.

The Right to keep and bear arms: This is a huge issue right now, though looking back through our countries history many people if not everyone owned a gun, or had one in the house at one point. When did it become a crime or frowned upon to own a gun. Guns don't kill! People are the ones that kill. You ask any little kid why a gun is bad they will answer because it kills people. Last time I check guns don't have a thought process. They are a tool that it to be used by human hands. What will happen if gun control is enacted is that all of the law abiding citizens will hand over their guns, and the criminals won't. Then lawlessness will be met with no resistance.

Our country of free people has turned into a country enslaved by the thought process and agenda of people who have too much power who shouldn't. We have turned completely away from the original goals of what our Founding Fathers wanted for us. When I look at this nation, the one I was raised in, the one my parents and their parents were raised in, I am full of disappointment.

Our country is a problem child in the world that doesn't know what it wants. We are fighting with other countries and fighting within our own country with each other.

“A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free. I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.” - Abraham Lincoln

This quote isn't just about the slavery of others. This quote is about the slavery we put on ourselves as people and as a country. Until we learn to work together our country will always be divided. Never joined and we won't learn how to work together. Eventually our country will come crashing down and we will have no one to blame but ourselves.

We provide people who shouldn't have any power with power and they abuse it and we do nothing. We don't think that it is our problem, but we are the ones who put them there , and we are the ones who continue to let them abuse it.

Not only do we give the power to people who don't deserve it we strip it bare from people who do. Our country just mows over good ideas and values because they don't support the easiest and most profitable outcome for us.

It is time for our country to finally kick ourselves in our own ass and say, "Enough." We can't live like this anymore people. We are in a an ever deepening self destructive rage spiral, and we can only go further down until we change.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
