“To know how to choose a path with heart is to learn how to follow intuitive feeling. Logic can tell you superficially where a path might lead to, but it cannot judge whether your heart will be in it.” ~ Jean Shinoda Bolen
In our lives, we are faced with many decisions. Some are big, some are small. Some are life changing, some barely make an impact. Have you ever had a strong intuitive feeling in your heart? Well I have and it was awesome.
We all think that KNOWING is the best, but how about feeling? A few years ago, I made what I think has been the biggest and hardest decision I've made yet. When you have this strong intuition like I did, there's no swaying it. It's like an inch thick rust covering a nail you cannot remove, an iron bed on carpet you cannot move. No comment, statistic, or opinion will make the slightest of difference. Where does this instinct come from?
I know my instincts come from God. I know He has a hand in any and everything I do, especially when it comes to decision making. I pray when I'm confused, conflicted, or indecisive. One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 3: 5-6. It reads, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight." God has a plan for us all and when we let Him in on our choices, He will always steer our hearts in the right direction.
What is the hardest decision you have ever made? Was it a choice that was so hard or was it the stress of everyone around you? Sometimes when I find myself in one of these situations, I feel pressured to make one decision just to make someone else happy. But I have recently learned that sometimes you need to be selfish. If you know what will make you happy, do it for YOU. Never make a decision because of someone else. Sometimes I find myself making a decision out of fear. I fear what others will think, and how what I pick will affect them. Follow your heart, it always has your best interest in mind.
Following your heart and becoming successful and happy from it is the best feeling in the world. How often do you follow your heart? This is something I want to make sure I'm doing more often, making a decision for ME, and letting God in.
Prayer:
Hey God, it's me. I want you to have your hand in every decision I make. I want you to help me make decisions for the benefit of me. Help me to not fear judgement of others. Help me follow my heart and not my mind. In Jesus' name, Amen.
