Appalachian State University sent 24 service groups all over the world this spring break to share in Alternative Service Experiences (ASE). We served social justice issues of all kind, including areas of poverty, environment, education, and other local issues. Together, Appalachian made a global impact. Even in our small actions, we changed the world.
With ASE, I had the opportunity to serve in Cusco, Peru. We worked with the Helping Hands Coalition at the San Gabriel School, serving in areas of construction and education.
This experience filled us with laughter and love, planting a seed of service that we will take with us for the rest of our lives.
When I say spring break was incredible and challenging and life changing and beautifully wonderful is an understatement. It was all this and more.
