Altar'd State Is My Aesthetic

Everyone has that one store that describes their aesthetic, whether they know it or not, and mine is definitely Altar'd State. If you've never heard of this fashionable store, that may be because its locations are largely based on the eastern side of the United States. Or maybe you know about it and you agree that it is definitely your aesthetic. Either way, here is why Altar'd State is mine:

1. The smell.

I don't know what they spray, whether it's a specific air freshener that could be found at Walmart or a hodgepodge of their scents sold in stores, but my Altar'd State location always smells AMAZING.

2. The look books.

On their website, they separate collections of styles (or lookbooks) into their own categories. This makes searching for your style even easier as well as finding other styles you didn't know you liked! This super cute, over-the-shoulder purse is definitely on my radar!

3. The home decor.

They've got everything from signs to decorative pillows to coffee mugs and the like, and everything's absolutely beautiful! Above is a sign that I recently purchased from the store and I LOVE it!

4. The music.

Altar'd State has awesome playlists that they continually update. They even have a Spotify account where listeners can hear all the tunes that play throughout the store.

5. The BOOKS!

Altar'd State is definitely a store that showcases its broad expanses. It's not just a clothing store, nor just a home decor place waiting to be overshadowed by someone else's designs. It's a melting pot, which ensures its success. The books they have throughout the store are wonderful picks from new as well as established authors that speak on empowerment, anxiety, relationships, God, and everything a girl could need.

6. The journals.

I am definitely a journaling girl. Between journaling, church notes, devotionals, and written prayers, I go through paper pretty quickly. Altar'd State's journals (and agendas) are beautiful.

7. The atmosphere.

This is the first and foremost reason that I love Altar'd State. It's a Christian store dedicated to showing Christ's light in a healthy and righteous way. It's also a store that gives back to those in need. Every week, the store picks a different charity to donate some of their proceeds to, and they advertise which charity in each store. Altar'd State's motto is "stand out, for good." That's something that we should all strive to do, no matter our faith or our fashion sense.

And those are seven of the many reasons I ADORE Altar'd State! Check out their website for more information or some awesome buys!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
