I Know It's Only February, But I'm Already Decorating For Next Semester

My fellow Joanna Gaines' and HGTV addicts already feel what I'm talking about.

One of my favorite parts about going to a college away from home is being able to decorate my room each year. Depending on how much money you're willing to spend, you get to choose a new color palette, new comforter, new trinkets to display around the room, and new artwork! I always tell friends that if I could make money off interior decorating like Chip and Joanna Gaines do with flipping houses, I'd do it in a heartbeat! But alas, it usually depends on who you know and where you're located. That being said, my bedroom is my oasis that I can change or rearrange anytime I want, even if life isn't always as flexible as my room decor. Here are a couple things I already have on my list for my room next year!

1. A fur rug.

This one really depends on preference, but every single picture I see of a room with a fur rug is SO CUTE. But it has to be faux fur, of course!

2. Symmetrical art groupings.

I'd probably either use black and white photos from my trips to Savannah, GA or Costa Rica. But I'm also thinking about using really chic fashion photos! Either way, symmetrical art groupings are just so clean and they look great!

3. A neon sign.

I'd probably find one for the kitchen or the living room. Neon signs are really "in" as a decoration. They're not only edgy, but there also add something extra to the atmosphere. Plus, if I'm being honest, it makes me think of the movie "Nerve" during the scene where they're walking through the neon-lit entrance to the tattoo parlor!

4. ALL the throw pillows!

I know this is something that really bugs a lot of men about their wives or girlfriends, but an obsession with throw pillows isn't strange! They're super cute, they make things comfier, and it's fun to just fall into them after a long day. Plus you can mix and match, bringing in different prints and colors.

5. Succulents.

I couldn't remember to keep up with caring for a real one, but thank the Lord for Target because they sell fake succulents!

Those are five new things I hope (let's be honest, I plan) to add to my bedroom/apartment next year! And I still have until August to add more to the list!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
