This weekend only Alamance Repertory Theater Company presents "Annie! The Musical". Annie will be presented at Triad Stage in Greensboro May 11-14th at 8:00 on Thursday, 8:00 on Friday, 8:00 on Saturday, and Sunday at 2:00.

For those of you who have not seen this musical based on the "Little Orphan Annie" comics, its about a 11 year old girl who is an orphan in search of her parents. Annie is a 11 year old girl who just wants to find them. In an attempt to leave the orphanage, Annie gets caught by a police man; and is brought back to the orphanage that is run by the horrible Mrs. Hannigan. Mrs. Hannigan meets a woman named Grace who is the private Secretary for Oliver Warbucks. Find out what happens next by attending this wonderful show for one weekend only at Triad!

The show features a wonderful cast including Phoenix Mangus (Oliver Warbucks), Ella Howell (Annie), Jessica Leigh (Mrs. Hannigan), Danielle Aj Storm (Lily St. Regis), Austin Rowland (Rooster Hannigan), and Eliya Watson (Grace Farell).

Music directed by Eliya Watson, and directed by Gill Hope Thornton (Aged 17) this show is sure to be a hit in the area this weekend!

Speaking of Gill Hope Thornton, did you know she is directing, and partial owner of the theater company at the young age of seventeen? She comments on what its like being seventeen and running her company, and being director of this production in this small interview.

Whats it like being seventeen, and running your own theater company?

It's hard. A lot harder than i expected. A lot of pressure is put on you, and i wasn't ready at the time to hold up a company. But with Walter Boyd's help, we are growing every day!

Whats it like directing a cast this large at the age of seventeen?

It's really hard. I think a lot of the cast had a hard time taking me seriously at first. When i showed them it was all business it started to go smoother, and now i have many new friends because of it!

Did you ever think Triad would be the space for the show? Did you consider any other spaces?

Triad was one of the first spaces i was looking at. I never expected to be able to put on a show in a theater space like this.

Tickets for Annie! Can be purchased through Triad Stage by calling (336)-272-0160 or online at http://triadstage.org/tickets. Come see the show!

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
