Last Wednesday night was the season six premiere of the award winning TV show, "American Horror Story." Chapter one of this season was titled “My Roanoke Nightmare,” which I’m pretty sure most people were unsure what it would really be about. The last two seasons, had been a little less than thrilling for most people, which has made viewers hopeful for a revamp of horror for season six.
Here is a breakdown of what everyone was thinking during the hour-long premiere that was included in every snap story you saw last Wednesday.
1. What is a Roanoke?

This title comes from the idea of the Roanoke Colony. In 1587, John White led 115 settlers to Roanoke Island, or Outer Banks, North Carolina. White returned to England to collect more supplies, but didn’t return to the colony for three years. Upon his return he found no trace that anyone had ever been there. This is what led to the name, “Lost Colony.” Several attempts were made to find this settlement, but no one was ever found. The only thing that couldn’t be a connection is the word, “Croatoan,” which was carved into a wooden post. Even more interesting, this was all talked about in season one of "AHS" in connection to successful exorcism. This mysterious theory set the perfect stage for the sixth season of "AHS." Like many other, based-on-true-events stories, this season will have no trouble finding creepy records to work with.
2. What are these side interviews about?

Not going to lie, I was confused for about the first five
minutes of this premiere due to these puzzling interviews. Since most true-story
based documentaries include a present day dialogue alongside a reenactment of
the documented events, I think "AHS" is just trying to over exaggerate the
realistic aspects to the story. I’m not too sure how I feel about this decision
yet, hopefully it all comes full circle soon enough. For now though I just see
it as a spoiler, since they all had to live to being giving these interviews.
3. What were those raining teeth about?

The idea of finding out it's raining old-rotten teeth all around you would be reason enough to leave this obviously strange place for most. I kind of feel bad for Shelby since her husband clearly thinks she is going crazy at this point. I’m still not too sure what these raining teeth have to do with the disappearing Roanoke colony, but I hope we find out more soon.
4. What person goes in the Hot Tub at a time like this?

OK, I’m sorry, but after spotting two extremely creepy and unwelcome guests in my home, I wouldn’t venture into my creepy woods to sit in a strange hot tub alone. This part just seemed to be a little out of place and irrational. Of course, she got attacked by the “Lost Colony,” that is famous for disappearing with no notice.
5. Why hasn’t she left yet?

I understand that no one believes her, but that wouldn’t stop me from leaving on my own. It's not like she is leaving her husband there all alone, he is never there anyways. Instead her sister-in-law comes to stay with her and Matt sets up some cameras. The only good thing that comes out of this is that everyone starts to believe her a little more, but not after getting locked in the basement.
6. What is that weird pig thing?

There seemed to be some sort of connection with the pig presented in the episode. We first saw the pig, or a pig, dead and bloody on the front step of their new home. Matt Miller, husband to Shelby Miller, buries the pig with out telling his wife. The second time we see this mysterious pig is in the video. This video that was left for them, seems to only make the weird pig even weirder. It seems to be standing straight up like a human and ready to attack
7. Why would you follow the old lady?

Finally, she decides to leave. I think this was the first time I actually liked her the entire episode, until she wasn’t looking at the road. Here I bet everyone jumped just as much as I did. Then I started to hate her again as she follows, the should be injured, lady into the woods. Now she gets lost and everyone knows she has really gotten herself into something bad.
9. How did they hang those things so fast?

When Shelby is lost in the woods we see the extremely creepy web of stick people hanging from the trees. We also saw this contraption hanging in her house earlier in the episode and I don’t think we will ever know how they did it so fast. These figures very much resemble the figures in "The Blair Witch Project." They usually are meant to symbolize the spirits of the dead or a victim of the witch.
10. What is going to happen next?

It felt like a lot happened in this premiere, but I still have no idea what is going to happen. The episode ended with Shelby surrounded by what looks like the Roanoke Colony. What doesn’t make sense is that we know she is going to live, but how? At this point it looks more like she is about to become one of those hanging stick people. Overall, I think this season has a lot of potential to be either really great or totally predictable. I guess all we can do is wait and see.
