Halloween costumes for college students can sometimes be more important than that midterm you just took. There is a lot of time and planning that goes into some of these costumes, and I give credit to those young die hards who spend more time on their costumes, than basic girls at Starbucks.
Every year, for a stretch of two weeks, students plan according to what party they will be attending, or who will be at what party, so they know whether or not to choose the costume that shows more skin. I am not going to lie; some of these costumes get pretty clever and just plain hilarious.
As far as what to wear, it can be tough because we have worn every costume known to man and everyone else has worn them, too. You can't be going out in the fireman outfit every year because, then, everyone knows you have stopped trying and just want to show off your six-pack for four days straight.
The sexy Halloween costumes will be out, too, for the girls. That is just a given. If you have seen one, you have seen them all. Now, I think they just try to mismatch costumes from previous years to make it look like it is something new. We all know it's not.
Always have that generic costume in your back pocket because things go wrong. Sometimes, they go terribly wrong, like you get too drunk and your cat ears get torn off, or your lion's tail somehow ended up in the middle of the dance floor in pieces like someone had been chewing on it all night. Oh, and the makeup -- there is always the crier every year, who can't hold back the tears for what ever reason and, then, there goes the makeup or face paint. You went from looking like a sexy vampire to the bride of Chucky -- and that ain't cute. Tear check yourself, next time you feel it coming, before you wreck yourself.
It might be time to revert back into the archives for this Halloween, and bring out something old school that is so throwback, people won't see it coming. You can only go as a rapper for so many years, and I am pretty sure you have been every athlete, so try to think of something original. Don't worry what it looks like, just own it.
Put some effort into Halloween, for one time in your life, and for those who always do -- right on. Keep pushing, because you can't lose your crown of the best Halloween costume this year.
Good luck on that costume finding!
