A Violent Message

Sensing something is amidst, I begin walking toward the entrance to the auditorium where the mumble of a thousand customers leaked through the doorway. They sounded disgruntled. I reach the doorway and I am just about to grab the door handle when suddenly, I hear a thunderous boom. A flash of marvelous light. Almost instantly I black out.

I am at my job greeting guests and welcoming them to the auditorium. It appears I am a server back at my old movie theater/restaurant. The building looks completely different on the inside though. The auditorium I was in was massive, with an incredibly high ceiling and walls and the auditorium seemed to stretch for miles. The walls were coated with black carpet and the movie was going to be played on a huge projector screen. The carpet on the floor was a dark purple and the tables and chairs that the guests were sitting at were colored black.

The auditorium itself had two isles with three columns of long tables that led toward the projector screen at the front of the auditorium, with two columns being attached to either wall and one column being placed in the middle of the auditorium. My section is in the left isle, containing the first 7 tables of the middle column AND the left column, making my section 14 tables full. Each table contained a family of 3 or 4 people so as I was taking orders there was no doubt in my mind that the possibility of becoming overwhelmed was knocking at my door.

Using a common server technique, I took the orders of the first few tables so I can put their orders in before taking the orders of the other tables so that way the group who came first isn't waiting forever for their food. Taking down the last order of the first group, I rush to the back of the server well to place their orders on my micro screen.

I found myself on a massive balcony/platform with no roof. The floor of the platform appeared to be made from crystals and the railing that covered the edge of the platform appeared to be made from gold. On both ends of the platform were two large pillars, the size of skyscrapers. The pillars appeared to be made from an element I had never seen before.

It was black and silver in appearance, however, the pillar seemed to radiate a bright orange aura. The sky was a fine blue and the sun was on the other side of the building so half of the platform was in a cool shade. Our micros were located close to the wall, on the opposite end of the platform, away from the gold railings. As I'm punching in my orders, I noticed that some of the customers from the auditorium are running on to the platform.

Darkness. A second passes. Two seconds. A minute. Feint screams. Flying rubble and debris crashing down on the ground around me. Sounds fade away. The darkness begins to fade away as I slowly come to and open my eyes.

*Thud thud*..*thud thud*. People are running and screaming. The entrance to the auditorium has been blown to smithereens and is replaced by fire and brimstone. *thud thud thud* *thud thud thud.* The wall that separated the platform from the auditorium has been destroyed and the auditorium is engulfed in fire and ash. It hits me, a bomb went off in the facility and has destroyed most of the building's structure. Armed security guards arrive on the scene and are firing their pistols at assailants wearing masks that resemble doll faces.

These assailants appeared out of nowhere and were attacking the guests. *thud thud thud thud thud.* I clench my chest, I couldn't figure out where that *thud* was coming from. The noise was booming in my ears, and suffocating my lungs. My eyes are wide. I realize that it was the sound of my own heart I was hearing. My heart rate was spinning out of control and I find myself gasping for air from hyperventilating.

A security guard sees my struggle and grabs my face and makes me look her in the eyes. She begins making slow breathing motions, signaling me to focus on her motions and mimic them. Mimicking her movements I regain control of my lungs. I stand to my feet and before I could thank the security guard, she's off fending off more on-coming masked assailants. The security staff appears to be overwhelmed.

Their numbers thin whereas the masked assailants appear to be growing in number and ferocity. Two of them manage to break through the defense and begin sprinting toward me. The first one reaches me and swings a knife at my face with his right hand. Ducking out of the way, I grab his arm and wrestle the knife out of his possession and kick the assailant in the stomach before delivering a fatal blow to the back of his head with my fist. He hits the ground hard. I make a break for it. I'm sprinting toward the edge of the platform to make my escape. I'm halfway there when I hear a voice behind me, "you'll never escape La Quinta Caballeros."

I feel a sharp pain shoot through my left shoulder blade and I fall to the ground. Turning around I see a knife struck me from my assailant's throw. My shoulder is covered in blood covered. The person that threw the knife was the second assailant I neglected during my struggle with his associate. Cursing, I pick the knife up and begin sprinting toward the assailant that struck me.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
