If you go to the Dirtyburgh, you'll understand.

The ABC's Of Plattsburgh State

The ABCs are the foundation for the English language. They create the English language. When we were kids, we were taught A is for apple and stuff like that. So here is how I'll teach SUNY Plattsburgh while using the basics.

A is for Algonquin

The other dining hall most freshman eat at. I mean it's still better than Clinton.

B is for Books

Keep an eye out for upperclassmen that are selling their books! It's usually a lot cheaper than buying them through the school store.

C is for Clinton

This well-known place is known for love at first sight (a.k.a. when you’re hungry as hell and want to eat everything). Then, you’ve become satisfied when you've literally ate yourself into a food coma. Then you hate the feeling you get about 45 minutes later. Regret is next when you're headed to the bathroom. But you'll repeat this all again the next day.

D is for the Dirtyburgh

We're the Dirtyburgh. That's all that need to be said.

E is for Einstein’s

Such a great pick me up after taking the trip to Hawkins. They also have a bomb iced caramel macchiato.

F is for Fast food

Plattsburgh has almost every single fast food restaurant that is popular up north. There’s McDonalds, Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Five Guys, Chipotle, Panera Bread. Shall I continue?

G is for Greek life

Everyone thinks Greek life is terrible. But in reality, its life changing and I'm happy to say that I'm a sister of Alpha Epsilon Phi.

H is for Hawkins

One of the farthest buildings on campus and home to Einstein’s Bagels, a power move.

I is for Ice

I mean our girls ice hockey are back to back NCAA Champions. Slay girls.

J is for Jackets

They are well needed to go class, get food or go out. Just be care because when people are trying to leave party, they might also leave with your jacket accidentally.

K is for Kotos

One of the few places around here that doesn't make you want to kill yourself after you have a meal here. It's also one of the healthier options that is around here.

L is for Library

Some people never come here, and some people do. Then there are the people that should bring a pillow and blanket and live there.;'

M is for Mother Nature

It was 60 in the end of the March, snow on April 6 and is 52 on April 7. 'Nuff said.

N is for Netflix

It’s a lifestyle. Also naps come along with this, so it’s a win.

O is for Online shopping

If you want get nice clothes, you're either taking the ferry to Burlington or start online shopping. Plus online shopping is amazing because you even get the online exclusives.

P is for Plattsburgh squirrels

Theses creatures are not scared of anything; if anything I’m probably more scared of them.

Q is for Questioning

Everyday you're gonna ask hundreds of questions like, Do I shower? Do I do my homework? Do I go to the gym? Do I go out? And yeah, stuff like that.

R is for Rock the red

Rock your red at the games and always on campus. If you see some one wearing the rock the red shirt, they're a freshman.

S is for Saturday

Everything good happens on Saturday during the day, and more so at night. Then you have Sunday to recover.

T is for Tinder

Will you swipe right? Will you see your matches on campus?

U is for UP

Be careful where you park, UP is always lurking and giving out parking tickets.

V is for Vacation

We all live of our winter vacations. I mean were partially home for a month and half. Well needed R and R.

W is for Wilson

If you live here or have ever been here in the last few years, you'll know it a complete trap dorm. The heat is terrible leaving you under 2,989,732,008 amounts of blankets at night. The elevator, microwave or something is always broken.

X is for eX’s

You're gonna see them everywhere.

Y is for Yik Yak

Everyone’s favorite app, and good laugh every once and awhile. You know what you'll read.

Z is for Zero

Zero money, time, sleep, grades and everything else.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
