Advisors - Your advisors basically know everything there is to know about your course load, university and the academics at your school. Reach out to them for any assistance you need.

Books - A used copy is offered on Amazon. You can save $100 on your textbooks if you do not buy them from the bookstore. Also, before you buy them, make sure you need them.

Clubs - So many clubs are offered at each college. Join a few, get yourself involved. You meet new people and get to do what you love or something new.

Drinking - Drinking is something in college you cannot avoid. Everyone does it at some point, and even if you do not people around you are. Be smart about your decisions and make sure you're staying safe.

Events - Whether your school is D1 in sports or you have a really cool concert coming to town get out and go! You will make some of your best memories.

Food - If you are filling your body with the worst foods for you 24/7 you are going to feel crappy 99% of the time. Enjoy some cheat meals, though.

Going Home - Yes home is where you know, but try not to go home every weekend, that does not immerse you into living life on your own.

Homework - For every hour you spend in class, your university expects around 2-3 hours of homework done for that course. Space your time out and chunk the work load. It helps with all the stress on you.

Internships - Colleges often have lists of internships in which you can apply for. Start looking sooner versus later, you will thank yourself come your junior year.

Jobs - A lot of university's offer jobs for students, reach out to your career center and get looking into jobs before you realize you are out of money.

Kindness - Everyone in college (for the most part) is friendly. Talk to the girl you sit next to, introduce yourself to the roommates next door and remember everyone was once where you are.

Laundry - In college laundry is most likely 2-4 floors down, if not another building entirely. Do your laundry once you notice things getting out of hand. You never want to be the person that has to take up 2 washers and dryers for all your clothes.

Money - When you're paying for things yourself and you're on your own for most of the items you are getting, money goes quick. Keep track of your money but remember to have fun too.

New Experiences - Get out and try new things, this is your chance!

Office Hours - Every professor is mandated to have at least one hour for office hours, go to those to receive extra help. Most of the time they will make appointments with you as well if you find yourself unable to make those times. They care about your success too.

Procrastination - The paper was assigned last week, but due tomorrow and now your scrambling. Spread things out from when they are assigned to when they are due. It saves you from the night before rush.

Quiet Hours - Dorms give you quiet hours for a reason. When it is quiet hours respect it. People like their sleep.

Roommates - Be a good roommate; keep your side clean, communicate and be respectful and things will go just fine.

Studying - In college if you cram you're grade will reflect that. Just like with work, spread studying out over a few nights out of the week. You're GPA will thank you.

Traveling - This is the one time in your life where you are not tied to anything or anyone. You do not have your own family, your own home or job. Travel as often as possible.

Underclassmen - In college this does not exist. No one knows each others years, and no one cares.

Visitors - Having your friends, significant others and family up is a lot of fun. Make sure to have weekends to yourself too though.

Working Out - Most university's offer gyms that are free for you to use. Going can keep your body, your mind and your health in tip top shape.

X-mas - Lets be honest the letter X is hard. But lets talk about the long break you get for the holidays, one month and new classes when you come back! That is a win win!

Yourself - Focusing on you is never a bad thing especially during this time.

Zone - Once you get in the zone of the work and the idea of college things come a lot easier. Do not force it.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
