Netflix's "The Devil All The Time"  Isn't Just Spooky — It's Heart-Stopping

All I have to say is, Netflix had no right with producing such a stunning and heart-stopping film that really left me breathless at the end. It is one of those movies that takes the viewer on a rollercoaster, sometimes you want to turn it off because it can get so intense, but at the same time, you cannot tear your eyes from the screen. This movie can make your blood start pumping and then turn it ice-cold in one second flat.

At first, I was really hesitant about watching this movie. My friend, who is really into scary movies, really wanted to watch it and since it was her birthday, I agreed. We watched the trailer first and I jumped at some of the scenes included in it, so I got nervous to watch the full thing because I really don't like scary movies. But as the movie went on, it wasn't even that scary. My friend was a little upset about that, but I got super into it. I will warn you, this movie is not for someone who can't stand the sight of blood. There are multiple grotesque scenes, and the camera's are not shy with showing blood. In conclusion, if you don't like blood, don't watch this movie. Or at least do what I did and hide your eyes until your friend tells you it's okay to look.

The movie is more of a psychological thriller, and the characters' messed up personalities messes with the viewer's head a little. It is one of those movies that has multiple stories throughout it and then they all tie together in the end in a beautiful and mind-boggling way. The characters all have their own stories but every one of them has skeletons in the closet, and this movie really showcases the unraveling of people as the secrets come out. The cast is filled with well-known stars, which makes it even better. The acting is superb and it seems like it was a hard movie to pull off.

This movie touches on the topic of Christianity, and I liked this characteristic of the movie since I grew up in a Christian household. There are intense scenes that deal with praying and committing sins, but it all played a part in the storyline. Every single character had a past with the church, or deals with it in their current life in the movie. With everything that happens in the movie, the viewer is made to reflect on their own religious beliefs.

Overall, I recommend watching this movie because it can stick with you after a few hours and even days. I know for me, this isn't just another movie I've watched and will forget about it. It is definitely one to watch during spooky season!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
