A Playlist for Every Occasion

Life is full of hardships; however, music listeners will know that there is 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 no hardship worse than desperately searching for new songs. Hopefully, this playlist is only the start!

Please enjoy the playlist and hey, there's nothing sweeter than having a playlist made just for you- feel free to send this one to friends or make one for them yourself!

Need a reminder?

"Rainbow" by Kacey Musgrave -The first time I heard this song was over the loud speakers at the tanning salon I work in, as it happens, this job gives a person plenty of time to think. Plenty of time to drop into upsetting thoughts. Rainbow by Kacey Musgrave is the perfect song to listen to when you need a reminder of the rainbows over your head.

Getting Over An Ex?

"Rich" by Maren Morris- I also heard this song while working at the tanning salon- they have a thing for country music- it's not as bad as you'd think I swear! Anyway, if you're tired of listening to the sad "I miss you" songs, but haven't quite graduated to the "Gunpowder and Lead" by Miranda Lambert yet, this is the song for you. It's the perfect "Wow, thank God I'm not that stupid anymore" song.

In Love?

"Sucker" by Jonas Brothers- I first heard this one while my little sister was driving us to Marble Slab for ice cream. I'm not in love, there's no one I thought of listening to this song. The sole reason I remembered it was the fact that I genuinely enjoyed the song after my sister recommended it- which is a rare occasion, those of us with younger siblings understand this pain. Regardless, after giving it a few listens, the song has feening- I just wanna be a sucker for love.

Missing Old Friends and Times?

Maybe this is more nostalgic for me than it is for anyone else, but strangely enough it always reminds me of every friend I've ever loved; despite the fact, that I only ever listened to this song while laying on my back in the floor alone in my childhood bedroom.

Graduating Soon?

"Here's to Us"by Halestorm- These lines say it all,

"Here's to us, here's to love
All the times that we f-cked up
Here's to you, fill the glass
'Cause the last few days have kicked my ass
So lets give 'em hell
Wish everybody well, here's to us, here's to us"

Together by Michelle Branch

"Together" by Michelle Branch- The fact that this song made the "Sisterhood of Traveling Pants 2" soundtrack should tell you exactly what this song is about. This is a shout out to my out-of-state best friend, Kelsey, and my hometown best friend, Sydney. Michelle said it best, "Doesn't matter how far apart we are now You can't add up all the miles in between If you take a good look all around now All you'll see is you and me" -please be warned, this one will make you cry if you're missin' your besties!

Ain't Need No Man! Anthem Alert:

The fact that this was a lip-sync for your life song on Rupaul's Drag Race should let you know exactly what's up, but I'll leave you with a verse if you want a sample before actually listening to it,

"Baby how you feelin'?
Feeling good as hell!

Woo girl, need to kick off your shoes
Got to take a deep breath, time to focus on you
All the big fights, long nights that you been through
I got a bottle of Tequila I been saving for you
Boss up and change your life
You can have it all, no sacrifice
I know he did you wrong, we can make it right
So go and let it all hang out tonight"

Barns Courtney - "99"

"99" by Barns Courtney- If you haven't read "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and don't know what I mean by 'the tunnel scene' do yourself a favor and read it- or if you're not a reader, at least watch the movie. The specific scene can be found on Youtube ( "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" Tunnel Scene). As Charlie would say, this song makes me feel infinite.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
