If you know me, you're aware of the sheer love I have for r&b music. As a 90's kid, I believe it's my civic duty to be a fan of the great tunes produced in the '90s. The soft, love-songs that tear your heart into pieces, the female empowerment, or the tunes that'll bring you back to that nostalgic period in your life, dancing away. I hope you can appreciate these eight 90's r&b songs as much as I do.

1. "The Boy Is Mine" by Brandy & Monica

A duo match made in heaven, Brandy and Monica were meant to sing this wonderful tune together. This begins with the two talking to each other, asking if they knew the same man that their both dating. The song is a vocal battle, competing for the attention of the same guy, in my opinion, I sing both parts while listening to this song.

2. "Back At One" by Brian McKnight

Brian McKnight's gentle voice makes you want to fall in love with the perfect man. Throughout the song, McKnight lists the characteristics of his "lover" or "girlfriend", making you want to be that woman. This song will make your heart melt on the floor because of its beauty.

3. "Doo Wop(That Thing)" by Lauryn Hill

The great Lauryn Hill, a woman that leads the race in producing several of the best songs in the '90s. We all wish that Lauryn Hill comes back to the music industry and bless us with another amazing album. "Doo Wop(That Thing)" is from her self-titled album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill", and infuses rap and soulful vocals into a song that is so iconic.

4. "Fantasy" by Mariah Carey

Mariah freaking Carey, an actual living legend and vocal goddess! If you don't know Mariah Carey or haven't heard of her than we can't talk right now. "Fantasy" embodies the 90's in a nutshell with the pop sounds and her beautiful voice, the song will make you dance nonstop.

5. "No Scrubs" by TLC

The female empowerment song of the 1990s, with the three women of TLC, they produced a song that women can sing in frustration of the men. "No Scrubs" is a song that lets you know that you should never accept anything less than the best. When you find a man, remember to listen to "No Scrubs" to know if you're dating the right man.

6. "All My Life" by K-Ci and JoJo

K-Ci and JoJo really had to drop this romantic song on all us like that in the 90's. "All my life" embodies that '90s r&b sound of love and romance, that'll make you want to fall in love.

7. "Don't Take It Personal(Just One Of Dem Days)" by Monica

"Don't Take It Personal(Just One of Dem Days)" is the song I can dance to in my room endlessly. No shame, just the vocals of Monica and the nostalgic 90's vibes.

8. "Say My Name" by Destiny's Child

How could I ever forget to add a Destiny's Child song on the list of timeless 90's r&b songs?? As a child, I dreamed of being a member of Destiny's Child, but sadly I couldn't. "Say My Name" is about the realization of your boyfriend cheating and with Beyoncé's empowering voice, this song will make you want to break up with the boyfriend you don't have.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
