Freshman year of college is scary but, you also have the time of your life. You meet new people, you don't have your parents up your butt all the time and you find yourself really or at least I did. It is a big learning experiencing that is for sure.

1. You Have To Actually Study

It is way harder from high school I promise. You have to study and you have to be serious about school. You can not just study every once in awhile and expect to do well in college.

2. Living Away From Home Is Hard

I only lived away from home for a semester but, it was really hard I was homesick a lot. It did get better though. Once you start getting out more and focusing on school you really don't think about home as much. So it does get better.

3. Living In A Community Dorm Is Nice

Living in a community styled dorm is nice because you really can meet a lot of people in your dorm.

4. Living In A Community Dorm Also Sucks

Sharing showers and toilets with 20 plus girls sucks so much. It is literally disgusting. Which that's just my opinion. Also, living with just all girls can get annoying. Not too mention with the bathroom thing, sometimes you have to wait on a shower or a toilet and that really sucks when you are in a rush to get to class.

5. You Can Actually Go Awhile Without Washing Clothes

Washing clothes was something new I had to learn when I went off to school. I wasn't used to having to do my own laundry. But I went like over two weeks without washing clothes its no biggie.

6. Living On Campus Is Great

You literally can wake up like 10 minutes before class and still make it on time. I got to enjoy that luxury for a semester and it was great. I lived off campus when I came back home and would have to wake up an hour earlier just so I could find a parking spot and get to class on time.

7. Parking At Any Campus Really Sucks

When I went to Winthrop University I seriously had to park all the way across campus from my dorm. It Sucked so bad! Even at Lander I have to walk forever it seems.

8. Professors Really Are Not As Bad As They Are Made Out To Be

I really have only had one bad experience with a professor. All of my other professors have truly cared about how I did in a class. Really all of them have been nice as well.

9. College Is The Time Of Your Life But Also The Hardest

College is so much fun but it is also really hard. In my freshman year of college I really have found myself. It has been so much fun. It also has not been easy though. It has been hard to stay focused and hard to keep up my grades. But you learn how to balance it.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
