As the school year is coming to a close, college students are gearing up for moving out of their dorms and back into their childhood bedrooms. Those white walls now turn into the poster-filled walls you changed as your taste in music did as well. Moving out is the best time for students, and the worst for parents. Here's 7 reasons why your parents are hoping summer was further away than 3 weeks.
1. Your stuff
They moved all your stuff in, now they have to move all that out with all the stuff you've bought with that 6 months of free Amazon Prime. To top it off, they have to find space for all of it, in the corner of the garage or the attic.
2. The water bill
They can't wait to see how much more the water bill is every month you are back home. Your 30 minute showers now need to be 10 since you actually have to pay for the water now.
3. Your car always being gone
Summer means hanging out with high school friends, having fun at the beach, and visiting college friends in their hometowns. This means that you're car is always gone when your parents get home from work.
4. Making bigger meals
Your mom now has to make an extra 2 servings for dinner since you've put on the Freshman 15 and are used to all-you-can-eat dining halls, but now it's better food.
5. Fights with your siblings
If you have siblings, you haven't fought with them in a long time, and it's much overdue. Bring on fighting again over food, clothes, and rights to the car.
6. Groceries
Add an extra $100 to the cart! Being home means putting 3 bags of chips, 2 packs of pop, and all the candy by the checkout in the cart when your mom isn't looking. Why not?! These Oreos are $3 and not $8, and I don't have to pay with meal plan dollars!
7. Clothes EVERYWHERE
If your dorm room floor was always covered in clothes, who says your room at home is going to be any different?! Just got to make sure it's in the hamper when your mom starts laundry, or you are running out of clothes until next week, or you do it yourself.
8. Entertainment
Being home means day trips to do fun things for the whole family, and event the yearly trip down south to the beach. You can already hear your parents complaining about the money that is going to be spent.
9. Moving back into college
To end the summer, your parents have to help move all your stuff back to college, and they just can't wait to do it for the last time after you move out. Even though they might complain about moving your stuff, they hate to see you leave and loved spending time with you at home.
