(In release order, of course)

1. The only person who is in control of my life is me (Episode IV: A New Hope)

Whether the situation is running from Storm Troopers or deciding my career path, I make my own choices and I make them for myself, not for the approval of others. Leia didn't wait for her shorter-than-average storm trooper, a scruffy-looking nerf herder and a walking carpet to make her decisions for her. Anyone who thinks I'm doing everything incorrectly can toss their opinions, as our beloved late Space Princess Leia Organa (now General) said, "Into the garbage chute, flyboy!"

2. Our parents do not define who we are (Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back)

So maybe my papa isn't the enforcer for the evil emperor and his army that's bent on galactic domination, but many, including myself, have the looming fear of becoming like our parents in one way or another. Who our parents are and what they do do not define who we are as individuals. We can make our own way in this great big world. Besides, matching with your parents in some ways isn't all bad. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader have snazzy matching robot hands; like father like son.

3. No one is all good, and no one is all bad (Episode VI: Return of the Jedi)

It's easy to vilify someone or put them on a pedestal, especially if I really dislike or really like them. In the end, no one is perfect. We're all human and we all make mistakes. Even ewoks, the perfect mix of fuzzy and lethal, aren't perfect. If they aren't, surely I don't have to be.

4. A killer wardrobe is no reason not to be taken seriously (Episode I: The Phantom Menace)

One's aesthetic and clothing style preference shouldn't render them any less respectable to the outside world. Padmé Amidala is the one of the youngest elected Queens of Naboo and then becomes a Senator in the Galactic Republic. She also doesn't let that get in the way of her eclectic style. She changes outfits almost as many times as there are scene changes, and she kicks Trade Federation butt while forging alliances with the Gungans all the same.

5. We all make mistakes (Episode II: Attack of the Clones)

Such as the screenwriters did with this film.

6. Awareness of the possibility of loss leads to gratitude, fear of loss is dangerous (Episode III: Revenge of the Sith)

It's one thing to not take things for granted, and the other to obsess over something we love, like a relationship, a new job, or that new gadget you saved up to buy. Don't take things for granted, but happily live with the knowledge that these things are not guaranteed and won't last forever. If not, you might end up slaying some younglings...

7. We all deserve new beginnings (Episode VII: The Force Awakens)

There is no set path in life. Where one day we may be stuck in routine, the next we may be running from First Order TIE-Fighters with a rogue storm trooper and possibly the best droid companion in the galaxy (R2D2 is great, but he swore all the time. They bleeped out all of his lines). The most important thing is what we do when those doors to the millennium falcon open to us and we are face with the choice of new horizons.

8. Sacrifice is a crucial part of life (Rogue One)

While I'm not suggesting Rogue One-level sacrifice, giving up things that are important to us for the good of others is a valuable part of life. I might miss out on an event I was hoping to go to to see a friend in their school play, or may miss out on a party weekend to stay in and take care of your significant other or sibling who is sick. Sacrifices make life that much richer for us all, and you can be sure others appreciate it (unless they are K2SO).

9. Change is necessary (Episode VIII: The Last Jedi)

The Last Jedi took on many new aspects into the franchise that hadn't been taken on yet, such as adding Kelly Marie Tran as the first ever Asian-American female in a lead role (which she absolutely rocked, by the way). While the original StarWars movies will go down into the annals of history as cinematic feats that changed American culture, developing the new additions to the series, such as Luke Skywalker's plea to end the Jedi order, a controversial part of the conflict in the StarWars universe, will breathe new life into the story. Throughout your life, you will come to crossroads where you will have to evaluate your values and choices and weigh them against their costs.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
