Harper Lee, unfortunately, passed away on Feb. 19, 2016. While her passing is undeniably sad, she has still left behind an unforgettable legacy in the form of her wildly popular novel "To Kill A Mockingbird." Readers all over have opened its pages and delved into the little town of Maycomb, Alabama. The book portrays the adventures of Scout Finch, who receives little bits of wisdom along the way, especially from her father, Atticus. Here are nine lessons that can be learned from "To Kill A Mockingbird."
1. Don't judge people
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view... Until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”
2. What real courage looks like
“I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin, but you begin anyway and see it through no matter what. "
3.How to have true integrity
“They're certainly entitled to think that, and they're entitled to full respect for their opinions... but before I can live with other folks I've got to live with myself. The one thing that doesn't abide by majority rule is a person's conscience.”
4. Get to know people
“Atticus, he was real nice."
"Most people are, Scout, when you finally see them.”
5. Embrace your family
“You can choose your friends but you sho' can't choose your family, an' they're still kin to you no matter whether you acknowledge 'em or not, and it makes you look right silly when you don't.”
6. Look on the bright side
“Things are always better in the morning.”
7. Be hospitable

“That boy is your company. And if he wants to eat up that tablecloth, you let him, you hear?”
8. You can't change people
“It's not necessary to tell all you know. It's not ladylike -- in the second place, folks don't like to have someone around knowin' more than they do. It aggravates them. Your not gonna change any of them by talkin' right, they've got to want to learn themselves, and when they don't want to learn there's nothing you can do but keep your mouth shut or talk their language.”
9. It's a sin to kill a mockingbird

"Shoot all the bluejays you want, if you can hit 'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird. Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."
