9 Songs Guaranteed To Put A Smile On Your Face

These are the tunes that you just can't help but smile when you hear. It doesn't matter what the day could throw at you; these songs can always manage to lift your spirits and cheer you up when you're feeling down.

1.) "Semi-Charmed Life" - Third Eye Blind

Odd lyrics aside, this up-beat and energetic rock number is a sure fire way to bring you up when you're feeling down. I challenge anyone to listen to this song and not crack a smile when lead singer Stephan Jenkins starts with his "do do do" at the beginning.

2.) "September" - Earth, Wind & Fire

There just seems to be something about the classic pop hits of the 70's that really makes you want to groove. When this song comes on and you hear the funky guitar and lead singer Maurice White's great soulful voice, there's no chance you'll be left feeling down. Truly, with this song, there never is a cloudy day.

3.) "Happy" - Pharrell Williams

This is pretty self-explanatory, but I'll explain it anyway because I feel the need. In a world full of songs about hitting the clubs and just generally making poor decisions, Pharrell brings us a breath of fresh air with a song that's just about being happy. This is just a wholesome and optimistic jam that can always put a grin on your face.

4.) "Daylight" - Matt and Kim

I'll start by saying that Matt and Kim pretty much have a monopoly and songs to make you smile. Matt's light and playful piano work and youthful vocals combined with Kim's catchy, simplistic and up-beat drumming make for one very pleasant song to listen to and one that I can almost guarantee will make even the grouchiest grump cheery.

5.) "White Sky" - Vampire Weekend

Any person who can listen to this song without cracking a smile at Ezra Koenig's cheerful voice, bobbing their head, or tapping their foot to the infections rhythms is truly a model of ungodly willpower. Vampire Weekend is another group that seems to put all their effort towards deliciously catchy songs that just make people smile, and "White Sky" is no exception.

6.) "The Impression That I Get" - The Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Ska just seems to be the ideal genre for songs that make you happy. The strong blasts from the brass section combined with the guaranteed-to-get-stuck-in-your-head guitar riffs make this song one that can breed amusement and joy in pretty much anyone who hears it.

7.) "Dare" - Gorillaz

This song is awesome. Gorillaz specialize in producing some very fun and very funky alternative pop tunes that almost anyone can find enjoyment in. If you're looking for a cool and different type of song to put in back on top and in a great mood, look no further than "Dare".

8.) "Two Princes" - Spin Doctors

Just because they're blues rock doesn't mean they'll give you the blues. Spin Doctors are a band that can't seem to write an unhappy song; it's as if every song they produce is just as fun and enthusiastic as the last. Between the fun lyrics about a princess picking between two suitors and the amazingly riveting drum work, "Two Princes" is sure to make you smile.

9.) "I Believe In A Thing Called Love" - The Darkness

I can't put this one into words. Just listen to it and you will understand.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
