1. The Weather Channel
Say what you want about which weather app is "the best," but in my experience, there is no other weather app that is more accurate than The Weather Channel. It is complete with a 15-day forecast, 48-hour forecast, radar, pollen count, and humidity level report - and that's not even half of the awesome features this app has!
2. Venmo
This app seems like it's not a necessity at first, but I find that in college either I am constantly owing people money or the opposite, people owe me. This app is super convenient because it links directly to a bank account of your choice for easy sending and receiving of funds. Venmo is especially handy if you're an out of state student in a state where your bank doesn't have any locations, making it hard to get cash out of your account if you need to pay someone back for something.
3. Waze
Waze is the ultimate traffic-hacking app. When driving to and from school or just around town, Waze will tell you every detail you need to know when you're on the road. Other "Wazers" have the ability to report things to the app such as objects in the road, accidents, heavy traffic, and most importantly, police officers. This app will help you avoid speeding tickets and get to where you need to be on time! Driving just got a whole lot easier.
4. Curtsy
So you don't have anything to wear on game day and neither does your best friend Jessica or your sorority sister Sally. Basically, you're out of luck and this couldn't get any worse. Never fear, Curtsy is here! Curtsy provides girls on college campuses all across the nation with awesome dresses, tops, skirts, and other various clothing items. Here's how it works- girls on your campus post clothing on the app from their closets for everyone to see. If you see something you want to wear, all you do is press the 'rent' button and pay the renting price. It's super easy and convenient, not to mention way less expensive than buying a new outfit that you might not ever wear again. Curtsy will help you look #OnFleek!
6. Cartwheel
To all my fellow Target lovers, Cartwheel is the app for you. Providing coupons you can scan from your phone at the register (yes, they work in self-checkout too), you'll save money at the touch of a button. Just go to the app, search for what you're purchasing or want to purchase in the future, and most of the time, there will be a coupon! All you do is click the '+' button and add it will add the coupon to your list. When you're ready to check out, pull up your list at the bottom of the screen and voila! Money saved!
7. Pocket Points
Speaking of saving money, this app literally rewards you for not being on your phone. Simply open the app and lock your phone while you're in class and Pocket Points keeps track of how long you go without unlocking your phone. The longer you go, the more rewards you get. Earn rewards for places near your school and online like Insomnia Cookies, Panda Express, and even Forever 21.
8. Crimson 2 Go
Say you don't have a car on campus but you really want dinner from a restaurant that is definitely not within walking distance or maybe you've had a really long day and don't feel like going anywhere. Download the Crimson 2 Go app and have it delivered! The app shows a list of every restaurant you can order from and what is on their menu. Place your order in the app and they'll bring it right to your door! (This app only works with the University of Alabama, but most other campuses have an app just like it!)
9. GroupMe
Group projects, clubs, DMs, oh my! Finally, an app where all chaos becomes organized. GroupMe allows you to make group chats with friends, friends of friends, and even complete strangers. Talking to complete strangers in a group chat sounds questionable, but college is basically a whole bunch of strangers in one place anyway, so embrace it! I use GroupMe daily to keep my clubs, organizations, and group projects, among other things in order. It's very user-friendly and convenient especially if you have a group of large people.
