Romantic comedies can be fun, but it's so easy to make a terrible one. Below are 10 of the absolute WORST romantic comedy movies ever made. If you are bored or need a good mindless laugh, many of them are on Netflix!
1. "The Spirit of Christmas"
I had so many hopes for this movie -- the main character was so fun and interesting in the first 10 minutes. Then she becomes horribly 2D and falls in love with a douche-y ghost. her love interest is a GHOST who only shows her affection in the last 2 minutes.
2. "50 First Dates"
I know this is an unpopular opinion but IT IS TERRIBLE. I mean *spoiler alert* Adam Sandler is a huge creep/stalker in this movie. His character makes no sense, he goes from being a total womanizer to randomly deciding to stalk this girl with memory issues until her family lets him love her. I mean it ends with her never getting her memory back, she just wakes up every morning to find out she has a husband and a baby?? I don't even know how to talk about consent regarding this movie.
3. "What Happens in Vegas"
Why does every single romantic comedy star a male lead who is permanently single UNTIL they meet the female lead? What is so romantic about a crappy guy turning into the perfect husband so quickly? The movie is riddled with cliches and rough acting.
4. "The Switch"
I really have no words for this one. An accidental sperm switch? I guess it happens? The set up and the acting are equally terrible. This movie could be called "Watch Jennifer Aniston get angry because she's in a stupid situation with another crappy guy".
5. "Leap Year"
Don't you hate when you're on your way to propose to your boyfriend in another country (because apparently women can only propose on Leap Day in Ireland?) but you meet an even better guy on your way? Me too.
6. "Life As We Know It"
One of those classic the two main characters had no interest in each other until they're stuck together in some totally unrealistic scenario movies, my favorite! Don't you just love when two people get together JUST because they spend enough time around each other to realize they have one decent quality? I'd rather watch the idiotic handcuffed together Buzzfeed videos, at least they're honest about the stupidity of the scenario.
7. "Christmas Inheritance"
I didn't make it through this movie, it hurt me too much to watch. If you're a fan of The 100 (a FANTASTIC TV show by the way, totally recommend), don't watch this. Eliza Taylor (Clark) plays the lead in this movie and it just hurts to see her talent wasted like this. Rich spoiled girl goes to a small town and becomes humble and falls in love. Great.
8. "Made of Honor"
Another cliche you were in love with your best friend all along movie. Patrick Dempsy is nice to look at, but this movie is tragic and drives me mad. The guy realizes he's in love with his best friend only for him to find out she just randomly got engaged to a total stranger?? Is this Season 2 of Friends? C'mon McDreamy, you're better than this!
