Now I know, Taylor Swift has not been as popular as she used to be and lots of fans are not excited for her new album to drop. I, however, don't care because Taylor Swift will forever be my favorite singer. I have been a fan of hers since the very beginning, and even now, I am excited to see what this new chapter in her music career will have to offer. I believe everyone goes through changes and maybe this is her way of finding herself. So with that being said, in preparation for her new album "Reputation" to drop on November 10th, here is a list of the most underrated Taylor Swift songs so far.
1. "Mary's Song (Oh my my my)"
To start off, I figured I would take it back to her very first album and reminisce with this beautiful song. "Mary's Song (Oh my my my)" was such an innocent love song about the boy and girl next door. I can't help but smile when listening to it because it is so simple and happy. Oh, the times before Joe Jonas' phone call breakup are coming back to me now.
2. "You are in Love"
Jumping back to her most recent album, "You are in Love" reminds me of the kinds of love songs that Taylor Swift used to write. This song is so peaceful to listen to, and the message is so happy. It really makes me realize how in love I am with my cat, haha. But come on, this song is just so pure it reminded me of why I fell in love with Taylor Swift's music.
3. "Ours"
This is yet another song that was available with the deluxe edition of the album (in this case ,"Speak Now"). While "Ours" did gain popularity over time, there are still people that have not been blessed to listen to this gem. I have no clue why this song did not go more mainstream, especially because in my opinion, this was the BEST Taylor Swift era. If this song doesn't get you in the dancing mood, you are truly a scrooge.
4. "Sad Beautiful Tragic"
Okay I know I am doing a total 180° right now by talking about a song with more somber tone, but something about "Sad Beautiful Tragic" speaks beyond words to me. If you listen to the lyrics closely, you can feel hear the emotion in her voice while she performs. These lyrics say so much about loving someone so much and how sometimes trying so hard to be in a relationship is the problem. The fact that for the most part, this song is done acoustically is the icing on the cake.
5. "All Too Well"
Again, this is by no means an upbeat track, but I do not understand how this song did not go viral. Taylor has me thinking about the crush I had in elementary school that did not like me back. In all seriousness, "All too Well" takes you through all of the emotional stages of breaking up with someone that you are very much still in love with and miss. When my ex and I broke up in high school, this song was so real to me, it was painful to hear the words. Needless to say, this was on repeat for a long time and many tears were shed.
6. "The Best Day"
If you have not heard "The Best Day" there is something seriously wrong with you. Taylor Swift wrote a song all about her childhood and how much she loves her mom. I seriously advise everyone to listen to this song with their mom because everytime this song comes on, I remember why my mom is the best. This song is so well written that everyone I know is touched by the lyrics.
7. "Better Than Revenge"
OK, everyone needs to listen to this song because it makes you feel so empowered in a unique way. Something about this bop makes you want to jump up and down, whip your hair around and call out anyone that has ever done you wrong. Everything about the "Speak Now" album is amazing, and it is for sure my favorite.
8. "Never Grow Up"
"Never Grow Up" is always playing on days when I want a reality check and to think about appreciating my youth while I can. I won't even lie, I learned how to play it on the guitar the second the album came out. Something about this track makes me relaxed and thinking about all the good memories I have growing up.
