8 Thoughts I Have As My First Year In College Comes To An End
Lauren Smith

With only two weeks left of college, I can't believe I am almost done with my freshman year. It seems like just yesterday I was moving into my dorm about to start a whole new journey.

Here are some of the thoughts rushing through my head as freshman year comes to a close:

1. "How is it the end of freshman year already?!"

Like seriously. That went by way to fast.

2. "I am getting so old."

I'm almost 19, living in my own apartment next year, and have to really start thinking of a career path. OMG.

3. "Wait... I'm not living in a dorm next year."

As I just made my schedule for next semester, I have to keep reminding myself I am not going to be living in East dorms anymore. So, I really can't base my schedule off of how close East is to certain places.

4. "I have so much to do these next two weeks."

Finals, end of the year assignments, quizzes, homework, formals, OH MY.

5. "I need to find two formal dresses."

Formal seems like so much fun and I can't wait to go, but even this is stressful.

6. "I have three finals so I need to start studying NOW!"

No joke. If I don't start studying now, I really don't know when I will have time to.

7. "In two weeks, IT'S SUMMER!!!"

This is the only thought getting me through these last two stressful weeks— a four-month vacation from school.

8. "I am going to miss my friends so much."

I don't want to leave my friends. I love you guys so much. Don't know how I am going to go this long without seeing you.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
