When living in a small town most people have to explain where your town/city is located based off of the distance to a bigger city. For me, in south east Alabama I always describe Enterprise as either 30 minutes from Troy or 45 minutes from Dothan. The next question that always seems to pop into peoples heads is what is there to do in your city in case they are wanting to or are coming to visit. Enterprise, Alabama and the surrounding cities have a variety of things to offer throughout the year as long as you're willing to take a short car ride.
Downtown Shopping
Downtown Enterprise has a great variety of shops you can look through. There's Milky Moo's Homemade Ice Cream, which has a great selection of homemade ice cream and delicious food. JoJo's Boutique always has cute jewelry and accessories and if you want something monogrammed they are the place to go! Another downtown store called Shopaholic has the perfect souvenirs to take back home. There's so many more shops downtown that is always fun to explore.
Brand New Movie Theater
Recently in Enterprise, a new movie theater opened up which was a big deal for us. It is owned by the Clark family and we were so excited to have a new place to go see movies.
Adventure Land
Located in Dothan, this fun family friendly amusement park is a great place to go if you are looking for mini golf, go karts, bumper boats, or arcade games.
Botanical Gardens
If you love flowers, you'll obviously love the Dothan Botanical Gardens. Admission to the Gardens is free, which always makes it a great place to explore.
Escape Rooms
The Escape Rooms located in Dothan currently offer 3 different rooms which include Time Warp, Murder at the Mansion, and The 13th Floor. Can you beat the clock?
The National Peanut Festival
Every year Dothan, Alabama puts on the National Peanut Festival at the fairgrounds and it runs for one week in November. There's always fun rides, great food, and even good performers throughout the week. It is almost a given that you'll find me there at least one day while it is up and running, usually by the Kettle Korn!
Water World
When visiting Alabama, especially in the summer expect the heat. To fix some out of heat problems Dothan has a fun water park that is always open in the summer time.
Peanut Hunting
Dothan is the peanut capital so it would be weird if there weren't peanut statues all around town dressed up. By the way, Percy has returned home and came back from his deliveries.
Drive-In Movie Theater
Wicksburg, Alabam is home to one of two Continental Drive-Ins. This location has four screens and is open Friday through Sunday during the school year and Wednesday-Sunday in the summer.
There's so much to do in our little area of South East Alabama, sometimes you just need a map and off you go to your own summer adventure.
