There are many vacation spots you want to hit during the summer, but for me, my home is the only vacation I need. Here are 8 things that make South Jersey a great place to spend the summer.
1. The Beach
We don't go to "the shore" we go to the beach. No matter where you live in South Jersey, you're never too far from a beach. Whether you need to get tan, swim in the ocean or just get away and read a book, the beach is always there for you.
2. The Boardwalks
Between Ocean and Atlantic City boardwalks, there are countless ways to spend your days and nights. Amusements rides, junk food and casinos are the perfect recipe for a great summer day.
3. Kohr Bros
Kohr Bros ice cream is essential for any hot summer day. Being a total foodie, my mouth is watering as a write this.
4. Rita's Water Ice
I swear these won't all be food, but if you're over ice cream, you definitely need Rita's water ice to cool off.
5. Casinos
One of the many perks of living near Atlantic City is there's always something going on at the casinos. Whether there's a concert or you just need a nice night out with friends, casinos are a great way to spend a night out in the city.
6. Jersey Bagels
So Jersey bagels aren't limited to summertime or South Jersey specifically, but after going to college in Connecticut, there's nothing like a Jersey bagel in the morning before hitting the beach.
7. Wawa Runs
Whether it's noon or midnight, it's always the right time for a Wawa run. People from South Jersey know that going to Wawa two to three times a day in the summer is perfectly normal (as long as you bring them something back).
8. Summer Nights
Pretty much-encompassing everything on this list, nothing compares to summer nights in South Jersey. To hanging out with friends, boardwalks, casinos, late night beach trips, South Jersey summer nights are one of my favorite parts of summer.
South Jersey is definitely the place to be during the summer, and I'm proud to call it my home.
