If your cat is on your lap, you don’t move.
You look down at that cute little sleeping animal and you can’t bring yourself to disturb them, so you just suffer through the urge to move until they decide to leave your lap. It could be two minutes, it could be two hours, so you better be prepared.
You love to cuddle.
Cats love to cuddle (well, at least mine does), so you better be a cuddly and tolerant person. You must always be prepared for your cat to climb all over you until they eventually plop down and take a nap in your lap.
Your camera roll is filled mostly with pictures of your cats.
Sometimes pictures of your friends find their way on your phone, but it’s mostly pictures of your cats, selfies with your cats, or cat related objects and memes. I currently have about 500 photos of my cats on my phone/computer.
You have cat hair on your clothes.
It never fails, as soon as you’re ready to go out, your cat comes and rubs on your ankles and gets their hair all over your pants. Or you couldn’t resist letting them jump on your lap one last time before you leave. It’s the worst feeling thinking that you hurt your cat’s feelings and you wouldn’t want them to hate you for the rest of the night, so you put up with their hair being everywhere. And even if you tried to use a lint roller, their hair would still be there.
When you hear someone mention cats, you casually insert yourself into the conversation.
Every cat person has done it. We can’t resist talking about our cute, little fur balls.
You don’t close doors behind you.
It doesn’t matter if it’s the bathroom or your bedroom, your cat will follow you in there. And if you try to lock him out, he’ll just scratch at the door until you give in and open it.
You take it personally when people say that they hate cats.
Clearly that person hasn’t met the right cat yet, because not all cats are mean and grumpy. Some just want you to love them and pet them. Some cats put up with you making them take selfies and things because they love you that much. So please, don’t tell me you hate cats, because chances are I will take it very personally and secretly hold it against you.
You call your cat your best friend.
And it’s true because they are always there to cuddle with you when you’re sad, and they always comfort you when you’ve had a tough day. Plus, they always suffer through long homework-filled nights with you.
People may think that cat people are weird, or “crazy.” But we just have a special bond with our cats that non-cat people just can’t comprehend.
