8 Reasons You Should Love Bread

Bread gets a bad wrap. Often people avoid it because of the carbs, or because they simply don't find it appetizing. Bread is often labeled as bland, fattening, and boring, but bread is a beautiful and delicious snack any time of the day. I -- like Oprah Winfrey -- love bread. I would eat bread for every single meal if I had the chance. And here are eight reasons you should love bread, and never feel guilty about eating that whole basket of rolls at Texas Roadhouse ever again:

1. Bread is easy to make.

You don't have to be a master chef to bake up a few loaves of bread. In fact, all you need is a few key ingredients, some patience, and a place to hide your delicious homemade bread from the rest of the family.

2. Bread makes sandwiches.

Yes, this one is obvious. But, seriously, how good would your peanut butter and jelly sandwich be without that sweet vehicle of fluffy goodness to carry it in? No one likes to carry around jars of peanut butter and jelly, or assorted slices of bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Bread is the perfect vessel for any type of filling you can imagine, and it adds it's own special flavor to the mix as well.

3. Bread is an art form.

I know this sounds strange, but there are quite literally thousands of people out there who are using bread as an art form. From rainbow bagels to bread in the shape of the Roman Colosseum, bread is one of the most versatile mediums out there. Even the simplest dough can become something amazing. Personally, I think one of the most beautiful things to watch is bread baking. And really, isn't art all in the eye of the beholder?

4. Bread is cheap.

You probably have never looked too closely at the prices of your average loaf of bread, because it has probably been something you have always been able to afford. The average cost of a normal loaf of bread is around $1.70 according to the United States Department of Labor Statistics. That's pretty cost effective considering you can probably feed a family of four with one loaf for at least a week. Not to mention, most restaurants give it to you for free.

5. Cats love bread.

OK, so this one isn't technically true. But seriously, stick your cat's head through a slice of bread for some hilarious results.

6. Bread can be sweet or savory.

It's one of the most flexible food items out there. Whether you're making toast, grilled cheese, a hamburger or bread pudding, banana bread or muffins, bread can do just about anything. You can enjoy it as a salty, buttery breakfast item, or a sweet, delectable dessert.

7. Bread is considerate of your allergies.

Because there are so many varieties of bread, there are types that exclude just about every food allergy you could have. Gluten free, wheat free, dairy free. You name it; there's probably a type of bread out there you can eat.

8. In the immortal words of Oprah Winfrey...

And you should too. Seriously, stop denying yourself the better things in life. Bread is one of the best things in this world, it serves so many purposes and can be eaten with other foods or by itself. Just because it comes with a few more carbs than other foods is no reason to hold back when that hot basket of rolls comes out at your favorite restaurant.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
