When you tell someone you are from South Lyon, they usually have never heard of it. South Lyon is a small town in-between Novi and Brighton. The residents of this town love all of the little things that make South Lyon so unique.
1. You were so excited when South Lyon finally got it's own geo-filter on Snapchat. You never thought the day would come when a little town like ours would get recognized on Snapchat.
2. You know better than to drive near McDonalds and Taco Bell during the times of 2-4 p.m. on weekdays, because it is flooded with middle school walkers. This was the coolest thing to do as a middle school student, and if you didn't walk on a Friday then you were missing out.
3. You were devastated when you heard the news about The South Lyon Hotel burning down. Our town has made so many memories there — whether it's been watching film for high school football, or having a get together with friends.
4. You eat at Lucas Coney Island regularly because you just can't resist their amazing food (especially the fries!). This restaurant is addicting, and everyone can be seen there on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
5. You raised your kids playing at McHattie Park, and the hill behind the park has always been the go-to sledding spot. The sand volleyball courts are always a must on the weekends as well.
6. Everyone knows everyone in South Lyon, it is rare to leave the house without seeing anyone you know. There are only so many restaurants and grocery stores in South Lyon, you are bound to run into some old friends.
7. People give you funny looks when you call our town "The Dirty," and South Lyon High School "old." Our town lingo is interesting to say the least.
8. The Pumpkin Fest is always the best place to take the family during the fall season. There are so many games and activities — and we can't forget about the food!
