Coffee – it's considered a food group in college. That's just how important it is to our daily life. It has earned a significant spot in our lives. It only seems natural that you would meet up with your friends at Starbucks before class. So... here are a few reasons why coffee is such an important part of a college student's life:

1. Studying would not be possible.

Well... it might be, but without an iced coffee, how is anyone suppose to sit in the library for hours on end? Having a cup of coffee with you just makes the whole process of having to study a lot better.

2. We would not make it to class.

There are not many things that make college students get out of bed. Coffee is one of the exceptions. In fact, we will get up early just to make sure we get our coffee run in before class. If that doesn't show how important coffee is to us, then I don't know what does.

3. It's a social activity that requires no activity.

After staying up all night studying for that one test you probably failed anyway, grabbing coffee is an easy way to meet up with friends and maintain a social life without having to get dressed up and put on a full face of makeup.

4. It makes us feel grown up.

You've always seen adults walking into work with their coffee and it just seems like they have it all together. So, if we walk to class with our coffee we can at the very least pretend we know what that feels like.

5. It's versatile.

Iced. Hot. Blended. You can have your coffee made literally any way you want it. Everyone can get something that makes them happy and there is no need to spend an hour figuring out where to go/what to do.

6. It's cheaper than going out to eat.

You can argue that a $5 cup of coffee is expensive. But that's not as bad as spending $10/$15 on food somewhere else.

7. Coffee shops are a great place to study.

You may need to bring earphones with you, but there is just something about getting coffee and studying in a coffee shop. Maybe it's because we have seen it in the movies? Or because we know that we are going to need more than one cup of coffee, so why leave the shop in the first place?

8. There's a drink for every season.

Pumpkin Spice Latte in the fall... Peppermint Mocha in the winter... and your favorite Iced Coffee... there is a drink for every season. Once you start to get sick of your order there is a new season and a new drink to try.

It's no secret that we college students love a great cup of coffee. Our Instagram's are proof enough that it is an essential part of our college journey.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
