For the longest time I've had a love hate relationship with the small town I spent so much of my life in. It wasn't until recent years that I started traveling and leaving my small town home that I realized how quaint and wonderful it has been to grow up in such a tight-knit community. If you grew in Breaux Bridge these are just a couple of the things you might appreciate from our community.
1. The Historic Breaux Bridge
breauxbridgela.netI'm pretty sure I didn't learn the history of the actual Breaux Bridge until two years ago. Firmin Breaux built a footbridge to ease passage across the Teche and then slowly it turned in to the Breaux Bridge that you now see downtown. It's actually really pretty to look at.
2. Poche's

I'm convinced food is what brings the South together and Poche's is one of those places that you have to stop by if you are ever in town. It's also one of those places where probably everyone has had a job at some point in time.
3. Friday Night Football

I graduated awhile ago now which is cringe- worthy but the fact that all I remember from high school are those fall Friday nights that everyone waited so much for. Friday Night Football is the epitome of small town craze and Breaux Bridge has always held their own on this.
4.The Crawfish Festival

Our population is less than 10,000 but the amount of people that show up to town for The Crawfish Festival is insane. There's live music and local merchants and a weekend long party. The Crawfish Festival is the best show of hospitality that Breaux Bridge has to offer and it keeps people coming back. We're not called The Crawfish Capital of the World for nothing.
5. Charlie T's
The Best Boudin in town, hands down.
"A steaming pot of Charlie T's boudin. The local's love Charlie T's and so will you. Tried and true. We like the chili dogs a lot too."

6. Cafe Des Ami

Live Music + Good Coffee = What more can you ask for?
They also serve great food accompanied by Zydeco music on Saturday mornings.
7. Downtown Breaux Bridge
commons.wikimedia.orgI've met people that have wanted to live in a Gilmore Girls like town and Breaux Bridge is pretty close to that. Downtown Breaux Bridge has so many antique shops and places to eat. It's picturesque in the best way.
8. Bayou Teche
The Bayou Teche is a National Wildlife Refuge and in Breaux Bridge you can get a guided tour of it or kayak it or just have your prom pictures taken by it.
Breaux Bridge is one of the many hidden gems of the South with a lot to offer in entertainment and arts. These are only few of the things that I've gotten to experience while living in The Crawfish Capital of The World.
