Being a mother is probably one of the toughest jobs out there. In fact, there are so many reasons to appreciate moms (and grandmas, and aunts, and so on) that only one day a year is hardly sufficient for celebrating all that they do. In honor of Mother's Day, here are 8 of the many reasons to be grateful for you mom.
1. For giving birth to me

2. For being patient with me
Thank you, Mom, for maintaining your composure after I asked you "why?" for the 500th time in a row as a kid. I know we've had our disagreements over the years, but our relationship has strengthened significantly thanks to your enduring love.
3. For pushing me to be my best
Thank you, Mom, for expecting me to give 100 percent in everything I do. When my self-esteem gets low after a rough day, you always remind me to stay strong and make me feel like I'm capable of achieving anything.
4. For always supporting me
Thank you, Mom, for proudly attending every one of my soccer games, school musicals, and graduation ceremonies (and cheering for me at the top of your lungs). No matter how many times I change my hobbies or career goals, you are always encouraging me to work hard at what I love to do.
5. And my changing style
Thank you, Mom, for holding back your judgment as I went through the awkward phases of adolescence in middle school and high school. It was probably just as painful to buy those ridiculous clothes for me as it is to look back at the old photos of me wearing them.
6. For doing my laundry
Thank you, Mom, for taking on the massive piles of dirty clothes I bring home from college at the end of every semester. I never realized how much effort it takes to do laundry every weekend, let alone for a whole family. You're the real MVP, Mom.
7. For the tough love
Thank you, Mom, for not giving in to my temper tantrums whenever I didn't get my way. I couldn't understand when I was younger, but now I see how important it was to be told "no" sometimes. You have helped me to grow and become the young adult that I am today, and it's thanks to you that I have found my own strength and independence.
8. For being one of my best friends
Thank you, Mom, for all of the exciting adventures and laughter-induced stomach aches we've shared over the course of my 20 years of life. Despite your hectic schedule, you have always been there for me through thick and thin. You inspire me each day with all that you do as a mother, wife, professional, and individual and I am so proud to call you my mother. I love you, Mom!
