8 Reasons Why I Love Snow

I am so so so so so so happy that snow has finally arrived. There are so many reasons to love the snow!

1.) It Makes You Feel Peaceful

There is absolutely nothing more peaceful that I can think of than watching snow gently fall. Especially against some nice Christmas lights. ALL THE FEELS.

2.) Snow Days

Even those who hate winter can't lie: snow days are an absolute positive. I remember all the times a snow day saved me from going to school without my homework done. Even a 2 hour delay is such a blessing!

3.) Perfect Excuse To Stay Inside

No one will judge you for staying inside for a whole week. Eat a bunch of holiday food, play video games, crash on the couch with a blanket and a nice Christmas movie- relax because that's the only choice you have when the roads are covered in white bliss.

4.) Makes Driving Interesting

I enjoy driving in the snow, because it gives me a sense of excitement. You never know when you might slide on some ice and get some adrenaline pumped into your bloodstream. Call me crazy, but knowing that it could be dangerous makes driving in the snow so exciting.

5.) Snowball Fights

Ya just can't pass up a good snowball fight. I have so many memories of getting pounded in the face with a huge ice ball. Good times.

6.) Sledding

I have a really long, hilly driveway, so my friends (even in HS) would always want to come over and go sledding. I also remember the time when my sled was hooked to the back of a snowmobile and I rolled off the sled and almost hit a tree. Life doesn't get any better than having fun times and memories like those.

7.) Hot Chocolate Is A Must

Staying home? Have some hot chocolate. Going to a winter festival? Have some hot chocolate. Stuck going to class? Have some hot chocolate. I mean, it makes everything better. And you can't go through winter without drinking it at least once.

8.) It Creates A Winter Wonderland

There's just something about some pure, white snow covering everything that makes the world seem like a dream. Whether you walk through a small town, a huge city, or miles and miles of countryside, everything looks great with some snow on top of it.

"He spreads the snow like wool
and scatters the frost like ashes.
He hurls down his hail like pebbles.
Who can withstand his icy blast?
He sends his word and melts them;
he stirs up his breezes, and the waters flow."

-Psalm 147:16-18 (NIV)

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
