Fall is the best season, period.

If you couldn't tell from the title of this article, fall is my favorite season. And I think it's pretty appropriate that I'm writing this on the first day of fall. I personally believe that we should petition the universe to be fall year round, because the best parts of life take place in autumn.

1. Colors

The different kinds of colors that come out in the fall are ridiculous. Oranges, reds, yellows, purples, browns, the list goes on. All of those deep colors that you see every corner you turn, those are my colors. My wardrobe consistently is full of blacks and grays, and I can wear them without shame in the fall. Add a splash of burgundy and call it a day.

2. Boots

Boots are my favorite things in the world, it's like your calves get a hug that lasts all day. And have you seen some of the boots that are in the stores? Cuuuute. I just had to replace two pairs of boots because they had worn out in the sole because I wore them that much in two or three years. Let me tell you, these boots were made for me and I just want to wear them everywhere.

3. Booties

They're not the same thing, trust me. Shorten the boot to the ankle and add a heel and you've got me drooling. I have a tan pair and now I'm just waiting for my exchange to go through on the black pair I just ordered.

4. Everything apples

I love apple picking, I love apples, I love recipes that have apples, I love the crisp smell of apples. Apple cider? Please. All of it, yes.

5. Pumpkin

An inevitable item on the list, pumpkin has become a staple for the fall weather. But I have to admit, I'm not obsessed. I've had one pumpkin coffee in my life, but I like my pumpkin in other places, too: in a candle in the foyer, in the pie on the table at Thanksgiving or in a new fall recipe.

6. Cardigans

Who doesn't love being warm and cozy? (Don't answer that.) I love being able to wrap a chunky cardigan around me on the way to class or during a lecture when I just to feel comfortable and content. And the perfect cardigan can complete an outfit if you wear it right.

7. Temperature

I can't function at all when it's too hot and when it's too cold, I just want to stay home and drink hot chocolate and decorate my house. But when it's this 60 degree weather? I can go out in a light jacket and get things down without worrying about frostbite or heat stroke. Once we get past this cold-in-the-morning-hot-in-the-afternoon thing, I will be so happy.

8. Aesthetic

I am all about the fall aesthetic. But you know what really gets me? The dark fall aesthetic: gray mornings, a cool breeze that whips leaves in a small cyclone, dry leaves that crunch under your feet as you walk to class, pink clouds that fade into gray sky at sunset. I'm going to end this article with these images.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
