Some lessons are difficult to understand, but once presented in a metaphorical and more natural way, the concept becomes clearer. We should all take some advice from a tree. They have a lot more to offer than paper products and oxygen.
1. Stand tall.
Even in our worst moments, or the strongest of storms, we have to remember to stand tall. Trees don’t fall over easily and neither should we. It is important that we keep our heads up high as the branches and remain strong.
2. Grow to your fullest potential.
You can help those that are smaller than you by providing shelter or nourishment.
3. Cherish and care for your roots.
Without roots, the tree would not be able to survive. We are similar in this way, so cherish your roots and take care of them because without them you would be nothing. We often forget about our roots because they are underground and behind the scenes of our lives, but they are ultimately most important.
4. Begin small and humbly.
When a tree is first planted, it is nothing but a sprout -- similar to how we begin. We must respect our beginnings and honor those that can provide wisdom and lessons of life as we grow.
5. Understand and accept change.
When the wind blows, the trees sway. When the seasons change, so do the trees. They are adaptable and understanding of the unpredictability of life. We should be too.
6. Develop patience.
Patience is a virtue -- we have all heard that before. Trees possess this quality before they even understand as they are patient in developing their patience. We tend to like things fast and efficient. Sometimes we can benefit for slowing life down and allowing for a more natural experience.
7. Stay grounded.
No matter the weather, trees stay grounded and rooted and as times change. It is important that we stay true to our values as well. They are what make us who we are. They shouldn’t change over time, we should stay rooted and remain true to ourselves no matter the weather and hardships of life that we experience.
8. Never judge.
Trees stand remain useful and continue to make a positive impact even after they are chopped down. They continue helping until they are used to their fullest potential. We can all learn from this because we spend so much time judging others and it doesn’t better us in any way.
