Even though the last book was published in 2007 and the last movie released in 2011, die hard Harry Potter fans refuse to let the series die. But I mean, who can blame them. It's not just the fans either. Here are 8 things that Harry Potter fans are overly emotional about.
1. Sorting Things
Lets face it. Whether it's themselves, family, friends, fictional characters, real characters, or any random object, fans are OBSESSED with sorting things. Leave a Potterhead in a room with a bunch of random objects for an hour and when you come back I'm sure they'd be happy to tell you all about how that chair was giving them a dirty look so its OBVIOUSLY a Slytherin.
2. Their Hogwarts Letter
I'm 99.999% positive that almost every Harry Potter fan at one point in time expected their Hogwarts letter. I'm sure a few awesome parents gave their child their letter. But for the rest off us, I'm sure it's just lost in the mail, right?
3. J.K. Rowling
Not every book series has an author that care as much about their fans (and characters) as J.K. Rowling, and boy are we lucky to have her. Not only does she use social media to honor the Battle of Hogwarts every year, but she also encourages fans in all their crazy antics.
4. Headcanons
Harry Potter headcanons come in all shapes and sizes, from the remarkably complex and detailed, to the bizarre and downright strange. It's this division that make them so fun to read. The point of headcanons is that the fan theory could have happened, but was not written into the book so who knows if it actually happened.
5. Fictional Deaths
From Hedwig to Dobby to Fred Weasley, the list goes on and on. Maybe it's better not to bring this up.
6. The Actors and Actresses
The fact that the Actors sometimes act like they're still in the books is an awesome thing, not to mention the incredible transformation of Matthew Lewis, Emma Watson's college graduation and recent HeforShe movement. The actors have a lot to be proud of, and the fans like to share in that pride.
7. New Content
Whether it's fan fiction, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Potter Puppet Pals, AVPM, or any other new material, cannon or not, fans can't get enough of the Harry Potter story and characters. The story itself is known by almost everyone, and the fan made content is just as popular among the fans.
8. Other Fans
A conversation between two Potterheads about Harry Potter is an interesting thing. All the above points are almost sure to come up, but that's what makes Harry Potter so special. It binds people together and gives them a common point to talk to each other and bond in a way only true Potterheads can.
