Lactose intolerance, or an allergy to dairy products, has been in my vocabulary since I can remember. Luckily, I never liked the taste of milk, so I was never bothered by its absence in my daily life. Unfortunately, I was burdened with the undying love for any and all cheese products. When I crave a certain kind of food, I don't crave sweets... I crave cheese.
1. Mozzarella Sticks
Mozzarella sticks have easily been my favorite food since I was a child. Aside from the pain I'm in after eating them, the gooey goodness encrusted by a deep fried layer can not be replaced. Dunk a nice, hot mozzarella stick in some warm marinara and heaven on earth has been achieved...
2. Lasagna
With an Italian grandmother, there's no way of getting away from good ole' lasagna. A genuinely Italian lasagna is never shy on the cheese and never shy on the stomach cramps afterward.
3. Pizza
Although I am certainly positive I don't eat as much pizza as the current generation who own T-shirts with various phrases regarding pizza, sometimes all you want is a good slice of pizza. There is also no other food that compares after a night out at 2 A.M.
4. Quesadillas
Over the past few months, I have grown a newfound love and admiration for quesadillas. In one week, I have also eaten them way more of them than I should be proud of.
5. Ice Cream
From mint chocolate chip to moose tracks, there's an ice cream flavor for everyone. Cover it in sprinkles, hot fudge, fruit, candy, or whatever your
heart desires. Ice cream is easily one of my worst enemies.
6. Milkshakes
Nothing truly compares to a good milkshake. There's millions of flavors to try, so you're bound to find a favorite. I tend to be extremely weak for a key lime or cake batter flavored milkshake.
7. Nachos
Nachos clearly aren't "nachos" without being drenched in cheese. Whether you're sharing a huge plate of nachos with friends or by yourself (no judgement), good nachos always hit the spot.
8. Hot Pockets
It's safe to say a solid 99 percent of Hot Pockets are filled with cheese. They're an easy go-to lunch during days packed with classes and a great midnight (or anytime) snack.
As I sit writing this, I realize more and more that I should probably completely restrict dairy from my diet... but then I remember what cheese tastes like. While all of these foods have caused me some form of pain and discomfort, my love for them remains.
