Music has always played a huge role in my life. Starting in the seventh grade I moved away from the pop music that I had grown accustomed to listening to and into a new type of music. I can’t say that I listen to a certain genre because that would be a lie.

This is a list of some bands I really enjoy listening to. You may know some of them and you may not know of others.

Pierce The Veil

Pierce The Veil is a post-hardcore band stationed out of San Diego, California. They have released four cds so far, A Flair For The Dramatic, Selfish Machines, Collide With The Sky and Misadventures. Collide With The Sky is a cd I know like the back of my hand. It has been my go-to car cd since it first came out in 2012. Pierce The Veil is a band I ahve seen live twice, once at Tsongas Arena in Lowell, Massachusetts and a second time at Vans Warped Tour 2015. The members are always energetic and rerady to perform their hearts out for their fans. http://piercetheveil.net/info.html

Songs to Listen to: Hold On Til May, I Don’t Care If You’re Contagious and Circles

Set It Off

Set It Off is a pop-punk band stationed out of Tampa, Florida. This band has hit in big in the past year or so. I first found them at Vans Warped Tour 2013. They were playing on the Kevin Says stage. It was an accident really that I had been able to catch them playing. Honestly, I wasn't super impressed. It wasn't until a couple months later that I decided to look them up on Youtube. And that was when I fell in love. Set It Off is now undoubtedly my all-time favorite band. I have a ridiculous amount of their merch. I have seen them live 8 or 9 times. I have met them 5 times at this point. I even have two Set It Off inspired tattoos. The guys are incredibly sweet dudes. http://www.setitoffband.com/

Songs To Listen To: Breathe In Breathe Out, Bad Guy, Kill the Lights and Uncontainable

Ghost Town

Ghost Town is another band that I found at Warped Tour in 2013. They weren't a band that I was fortunate enough to see. As I was walking through the hordes of people, I was handed a piece of merch from some guy. I had no idea who he was. He just pushed it into my hand and told me to check them out. I kind of forgot about that until I got home that night and went through my collection of stuff. I listened to a couple of their songs and immediately went and bough their cd the next day at my local music store. http://www.officialghosttown.com/

Songs To Listen To: Carnival, Black Moon, Down and Evolution

The Story So Far

The Story So Far is a band I never pictured myself listening to. I'd heard a couple bad things about their lead singer online. They were one of those bands that was plastered all over my tumblr feed and I just wasn't interested. TSSF was one of those band that you see on those quote pictures with some pretty scenery and some tough words. It wasn't until I met my boyfriend that I gave them a chance. I'm not sure if I could describe their music really. It only took a couple songs for me to learn how good they were. This was a band that I wished I had gotten into sooner. http://thestorysofarca.com/wp/

Songs To Listen To:Clairvoyant, Nerve, Heavy Gloom and Empty Space

Sleeping With Sirens

Sleeping With Sirens is a band I started listening to because of Pierce The Veil. PTV had a song featuring Sleeping With Siren's lead singer Kellin Quinn. I loved that collab song and so I figured I would love SWS. It was a good bet on my account. Sleeping With Sirens features a singer with an incredibly unique, high-pitched voice. Kellin can hit notes I can't dream of hitting. I've seen this band live four times and they are always fun to watch. Unfortunately, the band members themselves are a little rude. I paid money for a meet and greet once only to have two of the four members playing on their phones while signing autographs. http://sleepingwithsirens.net/

Songs To Listen To: The Bomb Dot Com V2.0, If You Can't Hang, Deja Vu and Left Alone

State Champs

State Champs is a band that I first discovered at a Set It Off concert in 2014. They were one of the multiple opening bands. I was caught up in their music right from the beginning. I met the lead singer after the show and he was incredibly nice and happy to take pictures with old fans and new fans like myself. http://www.statechampsny.com/

Songs To Listen To:Elevated, Secrets and All You Are Is History

As It Is

This British band is one of the newest editions to my large list of favorite bands. As It Is is a pop-punk band that I first saw at yet another Set It Off concert. They are amazing to watch perform as they put their heart and soul into every guitar strum and every note sung. Their lead singer, Patty Walters, can be found on Youtube doing a variety of covers.

Songs To Listen To: Dial Tones, Can't Save Myself and Bitter, Broken Me

The Gaslight Anthem

This is another band that I found because of my boyfriend. This is perhaps his all time favorite band. They are currently on hiatus sadly and not producing new music(though the singer and some of the band members have a couple different side bands happening currently). This is a band that differ greatly from most of the other music on my list of bands. If you are looking for band with sad music this is the band for you.

Songs To Listen To: 45, She Loves You, and Blue Jeans and White T-shirts

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
