7 Thoughts We All Have During Sorority Recruitment
Kathleen Messmer

It's time for no sleep, but endless fun.

1. Practice, practice, practice

WORK WEEK. The week of cheering, jumping, screaming, and yelling. Getting ready for recruitment is ALOT of work. Early mornings and late nights of practice consume the entire week. Little sleep is guaranteed. Everything must be perfected. But in the end, you are excited and confident going into recruitment.

2. THE PNMS!!!!

A new pledge class!!! What could be more exciting?! Everyone is so excited to meet all of the PNMs that could potentially be a part of your sorority. There is no better feeling than finding your rush crush: the girl who you're obsessed with, who clicked with you, who is literally the same person as you!

3. Beauty is Pain

You're all dolled up, hair and makeup done and your outfit is on point. Buuuut your feet hurt from your insanely uncomfortable heels, your bra is too tight, and you're sweating your makeup off. Your cute recruitment look is no more. At this point all you can think about is hopping in the shower and throwing on your favorite extra large t-shirt and baggy sweatpants.

4. ANOTHER Snack Round??

Snack rounds, they sound wonderful. In fact, the first one is fantastic. It's been a couple hours since you've eaten and can't wait to dig into the donuts and coffee waiting for you. But then lunch is an hour later. Then the next snack round. Then dinner. Then another snack round. By the end of the day, you never want to see another donut ever again.

5. SLEEEEEP

Starting rounds at 7 a.m. and ending at 11 p.m. Yeah, it's exhausting. You find yourself taking the longest nap possible in between rounds, which is probably less than 10 minutes. The last few rounds are basically you sleep walking and talking at this point.

6. I Sound Like A Man

Literally. Talking to 18 girls in one day will make your voice nearly unrecognizable. That is, if you still have one. Your voice either drops a couple of octaves, if you're lucky, or it completely disappears. The next day in class, it's not hard to tell which girls are going through recruitment because we all sound awful.

7. BID DAY!

Remember those PNMs you met? Yeah, they are coming home soon! Keep working hard all the way through recruitment and you will not be disappointed. Flirt with girls and get ya some awesome new members that will be absolutely perfect and you will be in LOVE!

Being Invisible The Best Super Power

The best superpower ever? Being invisible of course. Imagine just being able to go from seen to unseen on a dime. Who wouldn't want to have the opportunity to be invisible? Superman and Batman have nothing on being invisible with their superhero abilities. Here are some things that you could do while being invisible, because being invisible can benefit your social life too.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Whether you met your new love interest online, through mutual friends, or another way entirely, you'll definitely want to know what you're getting into. I mean, really, what's the point in entering a relationship with someone if you don't know whether or not you're compatible on a very basic level?
