The end of the semester is approaching faster than it seems. For some schools, exams are at the end of April, but for Miami, we still have time to get some fun in. It is important to take advantage of this time and do all the things you have said you were going to do this entire semester.

1. Do work outside.

The weather is finally warming up, and this gives us the advantage to be able to study and work outside with friends. Studying never puts anyone in a good mood, but the warmer weather definitely helps.

2. Take advantage of the few weekends left.

Work still comes first, and with only four weeks left of school the work is definitely loading up. But it is also important to take advantage of de-stressing on the weekends. Getting all your work done during the week gives you the freedom to enjoy the last few weekends.

3. Make sure to relax.

The final few weeks of the semester can be very stressful for many people. Projects are starting to be due, final exams are in the near future, and unplanned summers cause anxiety. The important thing to realize is that you need to just relax and take each problem one by one.

4. Reward yourself.

If it feels like you are constantly going and you never have a break, take a moment and stop. It is important to reward yourself and to give yourself and break so you are able to keep working as hard as you can.

5. Do something new every week.

This may sound silly and over said, but doing something new every week opens you up to new opportunities and experiences. Most college students have a typical routine that they like to stick to, but it is important to sometimes change it up and keep your week exciting.

6. Set aside time for just yourself.

It is very easy to get over-scheduled during the last couple weeks of the semester. While it's good to keep busy, it is also important to take time to do things for yourself and help keep up your motivation for the next month.

7. Enjoy every moment you can.

College goes by way too fast, and I can't believe I am about to be a junior. It is important to make the time you have here count. Don't wish for it to be over, and enjoy all the times you have at college.

It is important to take control of the last month of school because it will help you end the semester on the right foot. Take in all you can at college, the good and the bad, because before you know it, you will be taking your last final exams.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
