Growing up, I never knew how to take control of my hair. It was either a complete lions mane or I had so much gel and mousse in it that it looked soaking wet and felt like it could break at any moment. I would search the internet looking for tips and tricks, but none of them ever worked for me. So, I want to help out someone that is in my position with these 7 tips and tricks for unruly hair!

1. Only Use Shampoo 2 or 3 Times A Week

When you shampoo everyday, your hair can easily get dried out. Especially when using shampoos with sulfate because it strips your hair of all its natural oil.

2. Brush Your Hair In The Shower

Curly hair is easily broken, and I know they say not brush your hair when it's wet, but you can't brush curly hair when it's wet unless you want it to be as big as a planet. So, to get around this brush your hair while there is conditioner in it. And always start at the tips and work your way to the root.

3. Too Much Hair Product Is A VERY BAD Thing

Using too much hair product can weigh your hair down an make it greasy. To avoid this, add just a little and wait for your hair to dry. Then add a little extra where needed.

4. Heat is NOT your friend

I decided in the 10th grade to only straighten my hair on special occasions and I can definitely see the difference. Heat can not only break and damage your hair, but if you use it enough it can disrupt your natural curl pattern.

5. If You Sleep With Wet Hair, Never Put It Up

Just like everything else on this list, putting your hair up can lead to breakage. Especially if you're rolling around on it all night.

6. The Longer It Is, The Calmer It Is

As your hair grows out, the looser the curls will be. I wish I could have short hair so badly but I know I'd end up with a ton of frizz and my hair would be boxy.

7. Use A T-Shirt Instead Of A Towel

The roughness of a towel can damage your hair and disrupt the shape of the curls causing frizz. The best way to get around this is by using a t-shirt

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
