This past weekend my friends and I decided to embrace the beautiful weather and go for a hike. As we trekked up the mountain, my friends and I all seemed to have the same laughable thoughts.
1. "How are these dogs hiking faster than I am?"
It always amazes me how many dogs there are roaming around the trails. How can a barely 20 pound animal climb up a mountain that is verging on impossible for me to climb? I know they have four feet, but really.
2. "I hope no one is judging me for how hard I am breathing."
Is it just me, or are you already out of breath in the first five minutes of the hike? Maybe I just need to get in the rhythm of hiking or something but it is definitely a challenge to start.
3. "The elevation is definitely the reason why this climb is so difficult."
Right. It definitely is not difficult because you are out of shape. That would just be ridiculous.
4. "This view better be worth it."
In the middle of the hike it always crosses my mind how easy it would be to simply turn around. No one would know. Besides, pictures at the top of the mountain are overrated anyways.
5. “I hope everyone else knows the path, because I surely don’t know where I am.”
Somehow, I always get lost. Always.
6. "How many times can one person fall on a hike?"
I would like to think that by now I'm an expert hiker, but I never fail to find a way to trip, stumble or somehow come into contact with the ground during my hike.
7. "Why don't I do this enough?"
As much fun as hiking is to making fun of, it truly is something that helps you appreciate the simple things in life like a beautiful view and wonderful company.
