Thanksgiving is fast approaching, which means it's about that time of year for the snow to start falling and for Christmas music to start playing over the speakers in stores like Macy's and Kohl's. Of course, everyone is typically thinking about family, friends, a roof over their head, and other things like that when they're eating their turkey and stuffing. But, what are some things that you should be thankful for that you probably aren't thinking about this year?
1. Learning From Mistakes
How could we grow if it weren't for situations that help us learn something about ourselves and the world around us? No one is perfect, and that's what makes life so interesting. We're constantly growing, learning, and becoming better versions of ourselves.
2. Armed Forces
Our lives would be so different if we didn't have the protection of our armed forces. Never take them for granted, we are so lucky to have them.
3. Weekends
Could you imagine the workweek being more than five days long? Thank goodness for weekends! We all need that time to recoup and do things we enjoy.
4. Things That Make You Chuckle
One of life's greatest things is laughter. The world would be pretty sad without it. Give thanks for moments that have you giggling so much that your stomach aches and tears are running down your face.
5. Strangers Who Do Nice Things For Others
Know of someone who will pay for the car behind them in the drive-thru, hold the door open even if they're in a rush, or pull over to help you change your tire on the expressway? How much would your life be impacted without those people?
6. Diversity
Diversity of ideas or friends. It's always a good thing to have your ideas challenged, it helps you to think of problems in a different way and come up with solutions you probably wouldn't on your own.
7. Waking Up Today
Every day is a gift. Give thanks for another day of waking up and being you!
