Even if I love my school, there’s always going to be things that remind me of home. I miss my family and friends obviously, but there’s things about my hometown that will stick with me forever, wherever I end up.

1. The Food

Whether it’s my preferred pizza place, my go-to bagel stop, or late night snack, I constantly think of my favorite places to eat at home. I’m reminded of how much I miss New Jersey pizza as soon as I get to school.

2. The People

My friends and family that I grew up with are some of the reasons why I miss home. They’ve shaped who I am today, and supported me in everything I did.

3. The Roads

Weird, but driving away from home just feels wrong. I don’t know where the cop cars hide to catch speeding drivers, or the shortcuts that only locals know.

4. The Atmosphere

Growing up in somewhat rural area, I miss the open fields and green grass of my hometown. Coming from a different area to a city is somewhat of an adjustment.

5. The Shopping

Knowing all the right places to go shopping is essential. When I’m not home, I often resort to online shopping and waiting days for packages to come in the mail.

6. The Job Opportunities

I always miss my job at home when I’m away. It’s strange to think that at some points in my life I once dreaded going in for a shift while now I wish I could again.

7. The Athletic Fields

There’s no feeling like going back to your home turf and reminiscing on all the great times you spent there.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
