7 Things Chubby Girls Are Tired Of Hearing During Summer

I'm not "brave," I'm just wearing shorts.

It's summertime, a time when the people who err more on the side of chubby might be feeling extra insecure about their bodies. We tend to hear the same few things over and over again and we're sick of it. Here are just a few...

1. "Wear shorts for your body type."

This usually means "something that completely covers your thighs" and defeats the point of shorts in the first place. I won't sweat so that you won't be offended by my thighs.

2. "Don't wear crop tops unless you have a flat stomach."

Skinny girls don't have the monopoly on crop tops. For your information, anyone can wear whatever they want, whenever they want to.

3. "You can't wear a two-piece bathing suit."

Why not? I love my high-waisted bikini! I'm sorry you're scared of my stomach and stretch marks, but I'm not!

4. "You should work out to get more of a beach body."

We all already have beach bodies, pal. All I gotta do is get my body to a beach.

5."You're so brave."

I know this is meant to be a compliment. But it never comes off that way. It just makes me more aware that I don't have a "typically pretty" body. I'm not "brave," I'm just wearing shorts.

6. "You should hide your arms."

Why? Again, it's hot. I know I have some arm flab. But I don't care about it, and neither should you.

7. "You can't wear that."

Yes, I can. Period. Chubby girls can wear whatever they want, just like skinny girls can. And nobody has the right to tell them that they can't or shouldn't. This summer, mind your own business and let people wear what makes them feel comfortable.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
